Pretty sure all nations do this…
I know, that’s why I ask, because if it can be proven to be an inert missile displayed, that means there is almost certainly a live one that was made
However if it was just a mockup, then it likely doesn’t exist due to lack of other evidence
Not really something worth interrupting people actually discussing the topic with.
the seeker on the newer missiles shown looks to real to be a mockup for me
other than that its rear motor is decently modelled too
I don’t see why it wouldn’t be inert. It’s just a seeker head swap.
half this thread is off topic crap slinging, there should be much stricter moderation efforts
Is there anything else to show it’s inert and not a well made mockup though? For US missiles it’s really easy because of the color of the stripe, but idk Russian ones
It’s the inevitable fate of any large forum thread on here unfortunately.
it also has no specific markings, just a Х-38МЭ, which means basically nothing for us
Inert means motor and warhead are gone (usually replaced with sand or concrete for weight simulation), but keeps electronics and seeker, which is what matters
Mockup means little to no functional parts and it just looks pretty
no idea, i will try to find tho
Good luck
How is “can’t find any source of this thing actually existing” the same as “trust me bro”?
In fact, they are in complete opposition of each other.
Its almost as if the T is a designation for prototype, You know, Like “Object” for the Russians, Who have loads of single built vehicles that never saw use too.
Go on and tell us what tanks they got that didn’t get built.
means its a prototype body but doesnt have a seeker, if it did there would be another letter between M and E
could still be a mockup though
Kh-38ME is probably the IIR version. we havent seen a single kh38 mockup/inert piece with kh38mte written
off-topic
its a production model, unlike what nato stans believe, the rivets and screws arent supposed to be visible lol
ME is just a general term. Line a base template. When you add different letters like L,T, A (and their corresponding modifications) it becomes a specific version.
Kh-38ME is not and refers to the family of missiles
maybe thats because it doesnt exist…
the one image with what looks like a functional IIR seeker says ME
all the mockups with a IIR looking seeker has ME
