The Hawker Hunter game model is wrong

I am a hawker Hunter enthusiast, due to the fact that my father owns two and we fly them as civilians. I have played War Thunder and gotten the F.6 although I operate in person the F.mk 58 and T.68 however, the F.6 is a very similar aircraft and I have manuals on both aircraft which take up most of our library. I’d like to know why the F.6 doesn’t have a drop tank availability. and why it only has 13 minutes on internal fuel when in reality it has about an hour on internals alone. I understand why it doesn’t have a drogue chute as the F.6A was the first model to obtain one, but I think it may be a nice QOL change. Another thing I’d like to add is the fact that there is no mode for the “all flying tail” which the Hunter is well known for, I’m aware this was not introduced with the F1 Hunter but it is definitely in the F.6 and the F.MK 58 as well as the FGA 9 and the J34. this all-flying tail is what allows the hunter to be extremely manoeuvrable. I know for a fact that the Hunter can out-turn the F-18 and the F-35 as one of the pilots I’m familiar with has done it with their training. im very happy to share some of the Manuals i have possesion of as they are no longer classified and the aircraft we have have been demilitarized, I also would like to add that there can be some cockpit modelling improvements, which again i can happily send through some pictures of our cockpit from our F.MK 58

That number is for full power at sea level, it does not reflect reduced throttle or operating at higher altitude. You can at this very moment take her up above 7km, and get 40+ minutes at full throttle, or longer if you pull the throttle back to cruise.

Hello

Drop tanks are being rolled out sequentially across existing jet aircraft within every major update. Every new aircraft added to the game since the introduction of tanks typically come with them. However others (including the Hunter series) will be added over time.

The flight performance of the Hunter F.6 comes from the various manuals the Dev team has on the Hunter F.6. This includes all of its real world flight performance data. An example of the type of manuals we use for aircraft in game:

This is where WTRTI comes in handy:

60 minutes of fuel at cruise speed and altitude.

F-18 will beat Hunter every time.

The models for UK Hunter tanks have been in the files for nearly a year now though (since 2.33.0.14). They’re named uk_100gals_drop_tank_early/_late and uk_230gal_drop_tank_l/_r. What’s been the hold up on them being integrated?
The BENELUX Hunter came with tanks when that was added - using the Swiss 675litre drop tank models I believe. Even thought the Dutch Mk.6 was introduced long after the UK drop tank models first appeared.

Likewise the BENELUX Meteors of the same Mk.8 as the UK ones, have tanks while the UK ones do not - the Meteors are identical models and both do have these tanks as part of the aircraft model so their setup should be the same task - the UK ones just got ignored.

Afaik the Hunter (at least the Mk.58) didn’t have an all flying tail per se, but separate elevators. The whole horizontal stabilizer however was adjusted for trimming.

I’ll have to check again my docs, however.

I also remember that in the history of flight sim, this has always been mixed up one way or another…

What we sure would love to see is a Mk.58 cockpit instead of the F.1 cockpit… ;-)

(Plus those other model bugs that have been reported for the Mk.58, but those are really nitpick details…)

ive got footage of the F-18 being bested by the hunter

That HSI isn’t original. There the Sidewinder (or for those modified for Mavericks) TV display was mounted…

Love the authentic Swiss “4-fruits-pyjamas” (as we called that camo scheme) though!!! = )

Well, it will depend a lot on the situation, speed, loadout etc., even training of pilots.

I also heard Swiss Mirage IIIS pilots regularly bested Swiss Hornets at the beginning, before the pilots were properly trained and experienced.

when the aircraft was demilitarised by the swiss airforce they had to remove many of the items to make it civilian. RWR, etc…

The person i know who dogfights the F-35 and F-18 with the Hunter is a pilot with ATAC, in Canada I’ve seen what they are able to do and its impressive

Hehe can imagine!

I know a few Hunter pilots myself (even had the chance to fly in a T.68 once), and they are definitely some of the craziest of the bunch…

we all know why

The same is / was true for many other aircraft series that had new variants come to the game since whilst existing variants didn’t have them. As I mentioned above, any new vehicles coming to the game (such as the BeNeLux variants) typically come configured with them. All others have to be manually configured pylon wise to use them. So each one requires manual tuning.

The developers have a full planned list of vehicles to work through which they are going through sequentially. The Hunters are also planned to be done. Just we aren’t at that stage yet unfortunately.
