The game needs new maps and modes, not just vehicles

I love War Thunder, but as a live service game it’s one of the most stale ones out there, I come back from months of hiatus and I see the same maps and modes being played, new vehicles are great but they’re pretty low effort content for Gaijin to make and don’t rly make the game feel fresh especially when they’re top tier stuff, the game already has an incredible amount of vehicles, it needs other content, namely maps and maybe a few more modes for GRB to shake things up, maybe even events that aren’t basically a full time job but encourage something unorthodox and fun, does anyone else feel the same?

Gaijin doesn’t make $$$ off maps and modes, hence the low priority. Game really needs new maps and modes.

Well, they are adding infantry. So that is new.

were getting infantry this year and the maps for that.

Also the last tank map added was hated, attica has grown on me but after such a poor reception i think they are going to be slower with map additions.

White rock fortress is coming back eventually according to BVVD at least

Attica is buns. I hate the map with all my heart. I’d rather have volokomansk for the rest of time

The game needs to be balanced so Russia doesn’t win every top tier game anymore

We’ll see about the maps later

it can work however its really bad above 7.7

“it” being volokamansk or Attica

Yep although one or two bad map releases doesn’t mean you just stop making maps, they should keep trying imo, if they release a map and it flops hardcore, just remove it after a test period

Seems like a group of intelligent business people could figure out how to monetize maps…Buy a spawn location, camouflage, hmm… a unit that only works on that map? … /shrug.

Just asking, it more complex to design/create vehicles or maps? I’d think it would be more complex to design vehicles than maps. Especially with the modules and moving parts.

Would it be difficult to take an existing map, say Sun City or Sweden, and give it the same design as a destroyed look of Advance to the Rhine or Berlin? Or would that involve creating it from the ground up?

Another option to bring some variety to the game would be to open up some maps to new tiers. Also adding some AI elements to the larger maps, like Red Dessert, for those who feel like they have to wait 30 minutes until the action starts.

As far as infantry, I guess it’s a step in the right direction but I play WT because I prefer vehicle combat over infantry style combat. Also I’m assuming that those new maps would be urban which is not really conducive for vehicle versus vehicle play.

It’s infinitely more complex to design a good map than just a vehicle though, you need to factor in so much stuff in the gameplay etc, they have the template for vehicles figured out by now I’m sure

eh… I think it is only complex because the way Gaijin tries to do it. Marking high terrain or advantageous positions with red ink. I bet it would be really easy to make it randomized with some basic controls, especially using AI engines.

They do indirectly makes money from shitty maps because in order to ban it the players has to buy premium time lol

yeah, the game really needs new modes instead of just a bunch of people going into this battleground

Agreed 100%

Players can quit the map before playing it so I don’t think being able to ban a map is a factor in purchasing premium time like SL and RP bonuses are. Besides, we have the ability to ban 1 map only correct?

Gaijin. we. need. more. maps. (i want a west cost USA map ngl)
