This is a plane at a BR of 9.0 that can shoot you down from beyond visual range, at a BR where, as far as I know, there is no other plane with that capability. In addition to this, it is one of the very few planes at this BR that can lock onto you from the front, and one of the few that can carry more than two missiles. These missiles are also incredibly hard to avoid even when you see them coming.
This battle rating is completely unplayable. Usually an F3H-2 has got two kills on my teammates before I’ve flanked around and reached it, and the fight typically ends with me getting shot down by another F3H-2 from 5km away.
I have to look at the team lineups at the start of the match and massively adjust my tactics based on whether or not I’m against the US. When I’m with the US, I climb above the enemy, but when against them, I have to flank around. No change to a single plane should have such a massive impact on everyone else’s playstyle.
This cannot wait for the next BR adjustment. the nerf or BR increase must be done immediately. Progression through the tech tree is essentially impossible for those passing through the early jets on their way to top tier now.
I don’t think a single plane should be able to entirely deny high altitude positioning to every other plane at its BR. This would maybe be valid if there were other planes that could effectively strike back at the F3H-2 at long range, but there are none at that 9.0.
only stuff that can maybe compete are other medium/long range missile carriers at higher BRs (i.e. Mirage III/Shahak with its 1 R530), or planes with countermeasures cluttering the enemies’ radars with false returns
the latter might work better with cooperation, but that super rare in public lobbies without a squad
didn’t the buff happen only for AIM-7, R-27 and Fox-3s?
Issues with R511 are the low seeker range to fighter sized targets, low seeker speed, pulse-wave seeker, relatively low travel speed, and low manoeuvre speed.
I never had success with the 511 against fighters, it’s just way to slow and since it burns for a very long time they just see it and easily dodge. The Nords are the missiles you want to be using on the Vautour.
Vautour’s radar missiles are so bad you can dodge them even completely unaware. But AIM-7C now is similar to pre-buff AIM-7E, which you’d have to go up to like 11.0 to get.
Not in the slightest. The 511 is literally the worst radar missile in game. It is slow, has no pull and takes ages to lock. Easy to accidentaly dodge jt
Doesn’t fix the issue that you can’t climb at all against USA team at this BR which means you are always playing on the backfoot. God forbid you are in a bomber.
This has never made logical sense
Cannot fight F3h-2 and win
The Matra 511 can be dodged by falling asleep and gradually slowly turning in one direction, the sparrow is far, far superior even considering the BR difference.
It’s a bit of a mixed bag IMO, while the missile is pretty OP compared to its counter parts, it certainly still has it’s weaknesses, such as the lack of a MTI/PD radar, however it’s existence seriously cramps the playstyles of many planes that require altitude to dive on enemies to even catch them or need to fight vertically.
And simply locking the enemy team to ~2000m max altitude gives USA teams a massive advantage, even the players not in the F3Hs.
I think the larger issue is the sheer numbers of them currently, which is making them seem worse then they actually are, that said you have the Swift at 8.7 with just 2 fireflash and R3Rs are at 9.7 minimum (granted on better air frames), currently I can’t justify it being lower then 9.3.
You can still get locks as low as 1km above the ground pretty easily and the lack of pd doesnt mean you dont still have to notch the missile to avoid it, you still cant just chaff
They are large in number because they are overpowered. It’s not going to die down until the jet is at least 9.3
We should not completely discount hype and learning curve in the stats.
I agree it is currently 9.3 material based of it’s capabilities, not player stats, I’m not sure if the missile/ airframe would justify the same BR as the Mig-21s with the R-3Rs due to the much better Mig-21, but it’s on par with the Mig-17s airframe with double the amount and now far better missiles, 9.3 would be a fair starting point for rebalancing it.
Nope. The missiles are CW meaning they require a notch once launched. Sure, you can PRE chaff the radar if you think they are going to fire, but once that missile’s motor starts burning the only way to avoid it radar wise is to either go so low to the ground the f3h radar completely turns off (not just tracks chaff or goes a little off target) or by notching with chaff
