Things that can dogfight F-5 (F-5C/F-5E) across the history of war thunder’ s matchmaking (certain aircraft used to see it and now they don’t see it anymore, marked with an Asterisk*). The first list would be the aircraft that could deal with the f-5c or e in an air RB match.

All of these planes can counter the f-5c and e in an air RB scenario dogfight. Why? Because the f-5 do not have the energy generation to counter these nuclear reactors with wings, that turn better one circle or sometimes outrate them. Put them in a prolonged dogfight in a 1v1 and the F-5 will slam the living hell out of many of these aircraft, including under certain situations, beasts like the J7E and MiG19PT at the risk of missing your only chance.
I think the F-8U when it was 10.0 beats it out, but that isn’t very relevant to F-5s.
Not exactly. The overall (and ideal) speed difference for a Corsair vs a Zero is much higher than an F-5 compared to anything else around it’s BR.

J-7E is much much better, but the J-7D and J-8B will lose in a dogfight.
It doesn’t need the energy generation since it doesn’t lose any energy to begin with.
Not sure what you mean here, but yes the F-5s will usually beat all of those planes in a dogfight.

My opinions are curated through years of experience on all sides of the planes that I reference. I don’t struggle to beat any singular vehicle in this game because the average player is bad. This ragebaiting you’re doing doesn’t really work. Your stats show you struggle against most things.

Well, you should admit there are some planes which fly even worse than ‘F-5 in your expectation’
Sea Harrier will be an easy example.
Will never gonna beat F-5 in a dogfight
But missiles will also get easily flared thanks to the cold fusion engine of the F-5.

Harriers have extremely gimped flight performance, I agree, however the fast roll makes dodging easy and its VTOL ability means you can easily force an overshoot.
Sure, you can still die to an F-5, but you will have the advantage.
Still, I believe that you got what I meant overall…
Anyone who struggles to fight an F-5 is simply bad at Warthunder. It’s not a good plane, and there’s vehicles that do what it does but better at lower BRs (e.g F-8E)

There are jets which are dreadfully overrated and have significantly worse flight characteristics than the F-5C, so you can’t just exaggerate things like that. :/
I don’t think A-7D/E or F-100D(which was faced F-5C before decompression, not anymore)
got beaten and are struggling to fight against F-5C ‘because they have a skill issue.’
I think you are underestimating the dogfight capability of the F-5C, and there is a gap in flight characteristic which can’t filled only with skill.
For example, Maaaaybe well-skilled Harriers can catch F-5Cs off guard and land ADEN fire on them, but generally, F-5C will have a dominant position against Harriers. (either GR.1 in 9.7 or FRS.1 series in 10.7/11.0) thanks to better general flight characteristics.
WDYM, both F-8E and F-5C share the same 10.7BR in ARB.

Funny enough, an F-100D could prolly beat an F-5 in a dogfight. I’ve beaten an F-8U with a F-100D, and F-8U can easily beat F-5.
The A-7 is one of the only planes in Warthunder than an F-5 could beat, but a Harrier can genuinely outturn an A-7 so that’s a very low bar.
F-5E is what I usually think of when I think F-5, but even for the case of the C, the F-8E has better missiles, and twice as many, better guns, better flight performance, and EEGS as the same BR.

the f-5c is better at turning in every possible scenario except the very slow energy gaining turn (the f-8 has more thrust after all)
