Why would it merge with the F-5C? The MiG-23BN can easily evade an F-5C purely by its speed. It can even put up a fight and possibly win if it uses its massive engines and use the vertical.
The other planes have very substantial chances of winning against the F-5C. You just have to keep in mind that a full up-tier is supposed to be hard. That’s just how the game is.
You also have to keep in mind that War Thunder isn’t a 1v1 game. You can play that to your advantage because in a prolonged dogfight (which most 2-circle fights tend to be), you will get third-partied like 90% of the time. This reality alone greatly diminishes the F-5Cs ability to capitalize on its advantage.
We’re not doing that. I’m trying to objectively look at 9.7 aircrafts and see just by how much they’re inferior to the F-5C. I am claiming that the difference should be 1.0 BR.
That’s why I said it has to flank hard. If the MiG goes vertical the F-5C has probably around 15 seconds of chasing time until it stalls out, the MiG is slow to maneuver at that point meaning the F-5 can get guns on or throw a missile at it. This is kind of a weird situation though and it’s a positioning issue on the MiG’s part of he gets within 5km of an enemy lol.
They may be able to in some situations but as you said, WT is not 1v1. That’s where the F-5C finds its biggest advantage, while in a dogfight it can flare off incoming missiles, others can’t.
I know you’re not, it was more of a hyperbolic example than what’s actually happening, sorry if that wasn’t clear.

i can kill f-5c’s easily with the su-25, even easier f-5e’s because these compress horribly. Now when I got the hunter f58 I could play some games before the f5’s got to 11.0/11.3 and i didn’t struggle at all against them, the hunter can reliably leave them behind or reverse them without running out of energy. F-5C is definitely not the one that should have gone to 11.3. I would say, staying at 9.7 without flares would do good. It’s slower than a Mig19, has a third of it’s engine power and has two shiddy missiles. Crazy to see Gaijin believes it is the same as the j7e, which is faster than the f-5e, climbs like a mig21 bis and rates better than a mirage 2000. All with the better NR30 belt and four magic 1s on steroids.

someone still hasn’t learnt the lesson not to turn fight with slow agile planes since the zero br’s. But don’t worry, there are millions like you in this game that cry about the same issue.
Same for the f-5e, the mig19s rinses it in every aspect and yet f-5e has seen f-16s with two missiles and worse one circle performance than a phantom.

NGL I got the F5C the night before it went to 11.0 and Genuinely believe it should still be 11.0 .
It is ridiculously oppressive in downtiers, hell can even keep up easily in an uptier, its only disadvantage in an uptier is its over all top speed, the 9Es such but they’re usuable.
The main thing is, most people even at top tier , turn too much and get caught out by the F5 easily, it was fine at 11.0 xD

It’s so OP that even the debris from destroying an enemy point blank is enough to completely kill it’s (already gimped) flight performance. The F-5s were famous for beating the J7E one circle but they’ve been nerfed around 2023 and have the turn radius of a whole city.
It’s so OP that while many aircraft can fly perfectly fine without the whole vertical stabilizer enough to get back to repair the f-5c will be stuck at 300IAS yaw fest til it basically crashes.
So OP that most of the times the guns connect with an enemy there’s mostly a hit, a hit with a fire or in certain occasions, a critical hit or a severe damage.
It’s so OP that it has two 10g missiles in a BR where everyone has four 20g plus missiles a whole br BELOW or four 35g mach 3 missiles at the same br on airframes that will give a good run to a good f-5c pilot.
It’s so OP that the moment you tap slats (combat flaps) above 900IAS to hold energy better while turning they blow up

Even a Su25 can spiral climb it or reverse it thanks to f-5c’s horrible nose authority and lower TWR than early korean war jets, but yes it’s very OP, exactly as like the very day it got added where you could trollbomb people near you and still not get affected by the splash damage.
It’s so gah damn op that even the mig21mf can outrate it nowadays like, at any speed.

its ok at 10.7 and was completely outclassed at 11.0
yet again for the sake of the m(g)ods they’re the ones deriving me to these topics. The F-5C is terridogshit and there’s no other way to look at it, it can’t rate fight, it can’t play speed, it can’t play missiles, it can’t do anything but quick turn fights and nosing onto targets with zero error margin to lead your plinkers into them and send them in a ball of fire if you’re lucky. Things like the j7d absolutely crap on the f-5c performance dogfight and armament wise, let’s not talk about the j8b which should be 11.7. I’ve been told it’s balanced but i’ve had them tank not one but two fox2s and still fly fine, while finding out they very much fly like kfir c2’s and have better nose authority than mig21s.
