The MiG-29 was the better FM on launch. The F-16ADF they added with it had only 2 Sparrows. You could say, “Well, the F-14 has the capability for 6 Sparrows!” Yeah, but it also had worse radar than the Phantoms at the time and for the longest time, it was bugged. The MiG-29 and F-16A both have MPRF radars with solid tracks. This dynamic didn’t change with the F-16C and F-14B.
You know you can defend too, right? The sparrows can be rolled with ease, and the Phoenixes can be outpulled with ease. You can’t do the same with the ER. So many times have Mig-29s (with my friends in a closed 1v1 BVR fight) simply outrolled all my missiles in the F-14 and then proceeded to ER me. It was the simplest stuff in the world, coming from someone who later grinded the MiG-29 to try it out. In AirRB, it was almost easier for the MiG-29. You stay just below contrail height, send one ERout at 30km, force it into IOG, go into the crank, roll and chaff, and reacquire the lock. All the F-14s were worried about killing zombers. The F-16A compressed horribly and had worse SARHs than you.

id say you add the updated TF-30 to F14A from the F111-F and give it extra flares and it do fine at 12.7
The only distinction is that phoenixes are normally launched from absurd altitude advantage into top-down attacks since tomcats have extreme range advantage over everything that isn’t another tomcat.
He also defeated the Su-57 in the top gun. I’m personally in favor of raising it to 15.7
I think its fine at 12.7. I just carry 2 AIM-54 with AIM-7 and 9. The AIM-54 in TWS from less than 30km for casual kills and the Sparrows for 15kms. It is fast and agile enough, with a decent radar but with a poor RWR like many other aircraft in its BR

I only meant IRIAF, maybe give it R60M on stock as well? FK90 is still crazy good, considering I have like 3 seconds from RWR going off to getting into a full notch while dumping chaff just to avoid it.
yes, I remember ER’s (and sarhs in general) mostly being used to slam anyone who popped up too high in alt to avoid something at MP height rather than actual high alt duels. The ER was the best at this, but it was about as dangerous as the 530F when dipping below 100m

When you say way better, I assume you mean the addition of Headon TWS somehow outweighs having better notch angles and Radar + IR HMD. If that’s actually your line of thought, idk what to tell you.

It never got the R-60. It only has the AIM-9P and R-73 as available options.
Hyperbole. The Fakour is still one of the easiest decoyed radar missiles in the entire game. Despite it pulling 20Gs it can still be outpulled with relative ease.
If you have problems dealing with Phantoms in a F-14A you have a very real skill issue
The worst thing is youre complaining talking about the IRIAF version with R-27 and Fakours against Phantoms 😄
