The event star system is just bad

Exacly and its not like 200k is small amount
I doubt anyone can do this in 1 sit anyway but even if he can whats the problem?

Dont know all about that chief, i just play normally and it works.

Sounds lot less like event issue and more YOU issue.

Normal events (ie. Not legends of victory) usually have one extra stage that offers what, 4 random modifications and extra camo, allowing you to skip one stage and still be able to get the vehicle.

I gave you examples of scoreboards, time needed to obtain that score and not only my score but others on my team.

Yes you did.

And i said i dont know all about that chief.

Its sim, im not qualified to comment on that.

I do mostly RB and event requires exactly zero changes to my playstyle (well maybe im not as keen to play with friends as normally because i want to hit the next match soon as possible).

Ah, I’ve read it as

“Dunno about you but”

The chief reinforced that vibe. That is, rejection of experiences citing you’re doing fine rather than “I don’t play that mode so cant comment.”

And fair enough then.

I’ll maintain my position tho, events tend to lead to really dumb gameplay that even tho I usually dont care about the event (I fly propeller planes, missile jet gameplay isnt really my vibe and early jet/korean brs are usually dead), still impact me negatively.

I couldve worder it better, i apologize fir that.

Lot of people get sweatier during the event, which is IMO both good and bad thing

Bad as it is harder to gain score but good as it forces you to do better. Unless of course were talking about unemployment lobby.

The community is the problem.
They feel doing it is an achievement , is something special…
Never, underestimate human stupidity.
That’s why GJ took advantage and passed everything to make the game more time consuming , so you’ll pay to save time.
And has nothing to do with skills (because people believe it has) . If i am not at home for a week because of work , but the next week i can cover up because vacations…that’s a “you problem” a “skill issue”, not flawed design made to make you pay.

I got teamkilled 5 times in a row in my harrier on takeoff so just bailed on the event because I wasn’t gonna deal with F5 players being F5 players for a crappy meteor.

ill probably just sealclub early jets in a spitfire to do the indian event

I think actual answer is that they do it because they want to keep high player count number during around 16-20 days instead of just having random values which likely wouldnt reach what we have rn. I have no other reasons for this besides chasing for player count.

Just as a reminder:
Events are not for players to enjoy the game even more. They would be total design failures in that case.
They are a way to sell absolution.

Well, i’m fine with events, but they could be way better… like the whole game could be better.
The only trash events anyway are the ground ones, because you have to play the horrific trash they call maps over and over.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, i do play ground occasionally . But i don’t want to play much because of the maps. And as i started getting to SIM , it was quite underwhelming that it has the same maps.

You clearly didn’t really play some f2p games that are much more greedy and anti player.

Their premium account has pretty nice features and basically cost pennies. You can also get GJN by just playing the game.

In my opinion the far bigger problem is how they handle premium vehicles and how that reflects to the health of the gameplay.

Its not rly a free to play the premium time is like a subscribe to the game
If u dont pay it it would take u an absord amount of time to spade vehicles especially at high tier and and normal ppl cant do this
And 70 -80$ to premium vehicle is expensive

I feel this comes down to whether you play mainstream AAA games or smaller, indie or at least worker-owned publishers.

I mostly play the second and Warthunder really, really stands out as awfully anti-consumer with practices that are toeing the line of EU regulations whenever possible.

So you needed more than 5 hours to get 47k points for the event. I honestly don’t think Sim is optimized for that if you go the PvP route.

I was grinding top tier jets for one nation and finishing the star much more quickly than you, simply by flying around and brainlessly slinging missiles around. It wasn’t rare to get 2k progress in like 5 minutes, as you just storm in, do something, get killed and repeat.

Important thing to note is that I was pretty mid at best in Air, so someone more skilled could finish the star by playing like an hour and a half daily, no problem.

That subscription costs you like 3.3 euros per month if bought on sale, which is definitely not a lot.
You are getting worked up over a honestly hilariously low amount of money.

It feels weird, but I miss the old engineering events.
They gave me some low tier premium vehicles here and there, now, with the neverending event marathon, I’m getting none.
Its just too much of a work for me.

Problem is this. Sim is very optimal for event grinding if you go the more abusive routes (I don’t mean playing CAS/heavy bombers, I mean ejecting/crashing to deny kills while doing PvE to make people stop hunting you; teaming up to teamkill people who pvp or leak their location in all-chat for the enemy to gang up on them etc), which leads to people wanting to play normally being punished for wanting to play. This is my main complaint, as personally I dont go for the events but get caught in the crossfire when I just want a fun objective oriented match.

It also excarbarates existing issues (people leaving after losing 1 dogfight and shopping for a game without risky opponents. Normally done for statpadding, now becomes more prevalent in pursuit of easy score farming). During the meteor event, I kept having games that quickly devolved into 2-3 vs 6-8 or vice versa, and whether I was on the winning/losing side - it was not enjoyable.

tldr: people make it optimal due to the 2.3x event multiplier and optimal is contrary to mutual fun and enjoyment of people who just wanna play the game normally. The frequency of events makes this worse, but a more intrinsic fix is needed to reduce the difference between fun gameplay and abusive gameplay when it comes to optimum (without punishing people playing for fun)

One thing is worth noting - that a lot of MMOs have 3 tiers of players.

  1. F2P
  2. Preferred (Has purchased the “retail copy” or paid a set amount of money (reasonable - usually at most the price of a retail copy if such exists or would exist) on subs/item shop)
  3. P2P

Warthunder treats P2P as F2P without any lasting benefit. Preferred is supposed to represent players who have bought a retail copy so to say.

One thing I’d expect WT premium or buying battlepass to do would be making progressing the BP much easier for paying customers (weekly score missions for instance) rather than also forcing them to do the very volatile, game-mode and rank/meta vehicle dependent daily tasks that go contrary to enjoyable gameplay a lot of the time. One would expect a paying customer would be able to enjoy the benefits of the battlepass regardless of what vehicle they’d want to play beyond the rank 3 requirement and wouldn’t be punished for only playing on weekends.

1DL is plaguing most of the game, especially in higher tiers. In GRB you can see your whole enemy team evaporating in just a few minutes.

I don’t really want to talk about BP as that’s another can of worms.

Just tried to say that cost of a premium account is pretty low considering how much content you get out of it. AAA games ask you for like 60-70 euros upfront to enjoy their 70-80 hour long content.
