The Dystopian Nighmare of Playing the F4E/Kurnass

Not baiting, just personal experience.

Nobody here is talking about the base R-60 why did you bring it up

Yeah thats a lie unless you’re purposefully flying into headdons and forgetting to flare

But it is still not every game. Most of the time it come down to the missiles.

If you’re incapable of notching, going cold or multipathing then sure but thats a skill issue and not a reason

The radar was made so MTI only works is a dive, putting it at the F-4E’s level at best.

When above the target.*
Fixed it for you.

Search only works if the nose is below the horizon line- ie in a dive. While it can track targets below, you need to achieve and maintain a lock to do so. Additionally, the opponent being lower means you are higher- silhouetted against the sky and receiving no multipath protection.

You realize the Kurnass is the best 11.3 F-4E in the game right? (Since it gets Aim-9Gs over Aim-9Js). I’ve also heard from friends that it’s in a really good spot right now after the BR changes.

(Also in regards to the MiG-23MLs BR, its radar sucks quite a bit now, making the R-24R hard to use, so it got nerfed when the BR changes happened and didn’t go up. There was also the recent Flight model nerf it got as well…)

Mfw decompression

Pretty much every F-4 except the E and Kurnass are overtiered compared to those two. Same with the MiG-23s. Gaijin’s 13.7 decompression failed to decompress the most compressed BR range of 11.3-12.0…

And if you manually point the radar down?

Not possible anymore, unless it’s a control I don’t know.

The R-60M is so bad, even as hyperbole comparing it to the AIM-9M is wild. Even setting aside the bad flare resistance, the motor is so anemic. Even against enemies who aren’t paying attention, the R-60M is tough to use because if they’re firing a missile, a rocket, anything bigger than a cannon round, it’ll miss. If the target is chasing an ally who is flaring, it’ll miss. If the enemy is even a smidge faster than you and not flying at you, it’ll likely miss. I’ve never had to turn off afterburner to dodge a R-60M, and only one time have I seen it ignore flares, which probably was because of rise time.

lolwat? I fly all the different Phantoms and only the F-4C is allegedly over-BR’d.
The rest are good.

“allegedly” it’s one of only 3 fighters at 10.7 with no flares, and it also lacks in terms of flight performance, missile performance, and now at 10.7 the speed isn’t so great either. The F-4F early is at the same BR, also with no flares, but with superior flight characteristics, better IR missiles, an internal gun, and only lacking the far below average radar missiles that the F-4C carries.
Also you can pull out whatever stats you want and say “but I did okay with it!” but the F-4EJ is severely lacking. Without agile eagle and with a terrible radar and no DF sparrows it offers nothing over the american F-4E, which is also not a top performer, or at least wasn’t under the old BRs. They’re both definitely better off now that they aren’t facing F-16s and MiG-29s every game.

No?!?!? All of them bar F-4C are in perfectly fine spots.

You’re really fine with the J and friends being only .3 below the F-14A, or the EJ Kai being the same BR as F-14B, F-16A, and MiG-29?

i should be complaining about the F104 s TAF.
i constant get uptieres with F14

EJ-kai being the same BR as the F-16A is hilarious. Now I’ve never played the EJ-kai, but I can guess that an F-4E with F-16A avionics and weapons will automatically perform worse than an F-16A with F-16A avionics and weapons… at least the Phantom can carry two additional 7F’s though lmao
