So let me get this straight.
Gaijin just showed us FOUR brand-new M1 variants, proving once again that they clearly have the resources and development capacity to create new top-tier MBTs whenever they want. Yet Germany still gets neither the Leopard 2A7A1 nor the Leopard 2A8.
At this point it’s genuinely hard not to see a pattern.
Instead of adding a Leopard that could largely be built from existing Leopard 2A6/2A7V assets with a new turret, Gaijin chooses to add another M1A2 variant to a nation that already has one of the strongest and most complete top-tier lineups in the game.
Germany currently lacks effective counters to many 13.0 helicopters, has one of the weakest selections of high-resolution thermals at top tier, and continues to fall further behind every major update.
The funniest part is that the Bundeswehr actually operates vehicles like the Leopard 2A7 and Leopard 2A7A1. These aren’t paper tanks. These aren’t fantasy vehicles. They’re real, operational machines.
Meanwhile, the Leopard 2 family already suffers from some of the longest reloads among NATO MBTs, a massive turret basket, poor survivability in several situations, and underwhelming gunner thermals compared to many competitors. Yet every time German players ask for a modern Leopard, we’re told that Germany already has enough Leopard 2s.
Sure, Germany has plenty of Leopard variants on paper.
But in the current meta, how many are actually competitive?
One.
The Leopard 2A7V.
And that’s a tank from 2023.
Since then, Russia has received vehicles like the T-72B3M and T-90M with Arena APS. The U.S. has received the M1A2 SEP v2 Trophy and M1A2C. Germany? Nothing.
I’ve spent over 5,000 hours playing this game, and watching tonight’s stream reveal another update without a new German MBT was honestly infuriating.
If this is how Gaijin intends to treat the German tech tree going forward, don’t be surprised when fewer and fewer German players are willing to spend money on vehicles like the Puma.
Enough is enough.
