The Type 81 (C), in it’s current state, is one of the most frustrating SPAAs I have tried to use. I have gone back to the Type 93 because it is just a better, more enjoyable vehicle. Every jet at your br (since it’s move to 11.7 for some reason) out-ranges you with guided munitions, you have no smoke, you are slow and large with no survivability. If a helicopter shows up, you might as well just return to hangar. On a normal map without weather, it struggles to lock any helicopter at 4.5km. Adding on a cold map or clouds, it can drop down to 2.2km. I had a match today with a Ka-52 hovering behind my spawn at a range of 2.3km and I could not lock him, switching modes did nothing. This vehicle should go back down to 11.3 and IR locking for helicopters needs a change, because there is no way a hot engine on a cold day doesn’t have enough thermal difference to be locked.
I definitely think them moving the Type 81 (C) to 11.7 was a little unnecessary, and that the Type 81 (C) isn’t one of the best SPAA’s in the game because just using flares will just basically make it useless (atleast I think)
However, almost Every Top tier SPAA is large and has zero survivability, the Type 81 (C) isn’t the only one really.
I feel like the type 81 (C) didn’t deserve to go to 11.7 due to lack of radar and range, but, for me, there isn’t a world where the Type 93 is better compared to the Type 81 (C), Because sure, you’re faster and smaller, but the missiles are much worse in my opinion
The lack of radar is the worst imo.
And they do need to rework how heat works.
It has similar IRCCM to the stinger so flares wont save them in 99% of cases. At least i have yet to see a jet flare my missile outside of pre-flaring.
Wait till next major
From what I saw on the dev server, I dont have faith in it stopping Japan from feeling like free kills to air. And that doesnt fix an 11.7 spaa thats useless.
I have had more luck with the 93 at 12.0 than the 81 simply because it has the mobility and size to hide from air, and since it locks helis at the same range, it can actually get in range to shoot them. Also shooting on the move lets you return fire or even knock out munitions sometimes.
I never managed to lock something at 7km with Type 93 unlike with Type 81, so I don’t trust your statement.
Type 81 C currently in game shouldn’t be at 11.7 unless they add the ARH missile to it with mad dog then that would be better for 11.7 tho it should drop to 11.3 where there is an actual line up as well.
Thats uh… what the new version is being added is lol

The new version adds a second launcher and radar vehicle that can search targets and provide datalink guidance to the missiles.
So it’d still be a lot better than just one launcher would.
As a separate vehicle with the radar fcs.
The current type 81 can receive the ARH still even without the radar vehicle.
probably statshit and alot of 10.3 downtiers was the reasoning for it being moved up… but when we move every spaa up in br which performs good in downtiers then you dont need like 50 cope discussions about “new spaa stuff is needed bc cas is too op…”
The problem lies not with the vehicle itself, but with the gameplay. The Type 81 is weak at 11.7, has no radar, and no range. It loses to any SPAA or aircraft with long-range weapons. However, there are a lot of stupid CAS in the game that just fly over the battlefield and are easy targets. This allows the Type 81 to have good stats, which is the only reason for gaijin.
Type 93 is somehow better than the Type 81 (C) for me, not because the weapon but because of it’s size and speed. It allow me to reach and camp near the enemy spawn within a minute and still stay underdetected, it’s mobility also allow me to relocated within a short time after being detected
you can also end up in some dumb places when you move your type81… but in general type 93 does work against heli´s and braindead/afk cas at this br…
You can but is way more difficult than type 93, type 93 can even reach behind the enemy spawn at some map
yep but its much funnier if you do this with the type 81 than the type 93(bc its harder and big)…
Same for me but in a different way
The seeker for the type 93 seems just straight up better for me Ive not had a single jet manage to flare it off while in the type 81 ive had several jets flare off my missile
The part that does not make sense though is they both have the same seeker stats so both should perform the same but thats just not the case for me
One thing that sucks the most is when aomeone spawns a tor or something similar.
I just leave when that happens because it means i will get no kills.
