The British 75 mm problem

As someone that has been fighting this issue for years, number 3 is objectively not true for the US tree.

What ammunition issues have you identified on the US side?

I don’t know. I have reports over 8 years now that were “FWD as a suggestion” and still not implemented. I’ll report back after 10 years and let you know. :D

Ed shared a doc saying it was fitted to a tank. What it looks like though is anyone’s guess. Document said Cromwell with Comet turret, but early in Comets design it was referred to as Cromwell. So… ?

Incredible that there is a whole website and team built for bug reporting, and yet the process of implementation seems so slow.

I’ll say it again, the solution isn’t to add APHE to the British, the solution is to give them realistic damage, and while we’re at it, make the APHE fuses fail at certain angles, just like APCR and APDS break (in some cases even unrealistically).

Like that will happen. The German, American and most Soviet mains rely heavily on the APHE cause of skill issue or low pen (like with the M3 75mm) and all the complaints about 35mm being too OP would be gone over night with the balancing and proper implementation

Asking for changes to major game mechanics is less realistic than asking for an existing APHE round to be added on a few guns.

But that’s precisely the problem: the fact that a core mechanic is what creates the most imbalances and is the most unrealistic. It’s clear they’re not going to change any of that, simply because the developers aren’t interested in upsetting the core group of complacent players who only want more premium items to buy so they can easily kill British and French tanks with their APHEs.

Well, I honestly don’t know how they’d fare against American 75mm cannons. The real problem is when you’re using stock ammunition, because it penetrates less, and because, like all full AP rounds, it does less damage than it should.

If you can’t beat them, join them.

The rejection of APHE changes has reset the status quo for the time being, so rather than laboriously trawling through primary source material and attempting to somehow prove that solid AP is perfectly fine then the much simpler route is to try and get that (historically correct) ammo put on British vehicles too.

And how a guy can take a 0.50 round to the head and only be ill

Adamantium helmets :)

I understand you, but the 6-pounder, the 17-pounder, the French 75mm long gun, and absolutely all the guns that only had Full AP in reality are left behind, because in reality Full AP ammunition was more than enough, and in fact lasted longer in service, making APHE obsolete. What an irony.

Don’t underestimate the toughness of human beings. They withstand .50 caliber bullets and when the vehicle they are in is hit, they don’t even flinch, continuing their work without wasting time.

Some great improvements for Challenger and Scimitar on Dev now thanks to community research, testing, and reports. This shows that real in-game changes do come from the CBR site.

Let’s hope that adding historical British APHE is being considered in the same vein.

Though also an annoying amount of nagging.

Nagging on which subject?

Challenger 2 fixes.

Scimitar does get mentioned quite often but doesnt have a dedicated thread

True, though I think it’s better for CRVT to be considered together, which is why we have the CVRT series thread.

It really does take community will to keep a subject relevant enough to gain traction with the devs, the turnout on the CBR for CR2’s engine power report made it impossible to ignore.

I hope this thread and its associated bug report are able to gain even a fracion of the CR2 report’s energy.
