Wrong engagement dude, The Engagement im talking about was with 2 tigers, Against i believe 4 or 5 Churchills.
Im not talking about Tiger 131.
again, different engagement.
This one was a couple weeks before 131 was knocked out, and the only reason 131 is famous is because it was intact and working, These two tigers were completely disabled, taking multiple penetrations by 6 pounder guns to their lower plates, losing their transmission.
dude i ratioed you with my reply in your “buff heavy tanks” complaint post sit down on this most of us know why these tanks arent unkillable gods but you don’t quite understand that from how you talk about heavies. Look I use the name of one of my favourite vehicles of all time but I’m not calling for it to be buffed because favouritism which would remove fair balance is lame and boring
the black prince was cancelled because it was too heavy and slow. and early APDS wasn’t dead accurate like a shot from an ordinance 105mm.
do you have evidence that the steel offered a higher ballistic protection because bug report it ASAP
Your “little help” would create a tank that is false in every way and quite massive
Black prince was not a paper tank, the plan to install a meteor never came of anything because there was insufficient space and there would be too big of an engine hump and like the engine, it inherited the same transmission, giving it the centurions powerplant and Merritt-brown would be inaccurate and wouldn’t fix anything super notable about its in-game performance, it would still be 50 tons of Churchill. Moving it down to 5.7 will mean you still see Tiger 2 in endless uptiers. if you want lots of mobility, a beastly gun and armour play the Khaled, not a failure of a design that outstayed its usefulness by four years
the early Churchills were not immune to an 88mm shell, 90mm of armour was sufficient for long gun pz4 but the 88mm not a chance if you’re in actual combat ranges. the later marks that could stop an 88mm (but with notable structural damage) didn’t even see the north African campaign so your claim is nothing but mythology or you watch Lazerpig.
what will help it out is if you stop thinking it should be buffed. you have 771 battles in the thing and the novelty of having to think and use tactics that reduce its shortcomings and plays to strengths wore off years ago, you’ve still got a 56% win rate and a K/D of just below 2 which indicates that it ought to go up as it overperforms on your stat card.
Churchill’s had lucky breaks at close range but so did 6Pdr static guns.It does not put one tank on par with another. There are numerous tales of The British army stopping advancing tanks with a six pounder but Tiger Tanks were phenomenally expensive for a reason.
A Tiger working as it should be being used as it should be is an amazing piece of kit on a different planet to a Churchill.
The Churchill had a number of admirable qualities unrelated to its ability to challenge a Tiger tank they rarely ever encountered.
It’s true the Brits fought across Europe with what they had but what they had was air superiority and fuel.We also had superb intelligence and knew where any German heavies might be so we could avoid them.
It is mentioned SOMEWHERE in this video. I can’t search for the exact mention of the engagement right now, helping do something around the house and kinda dashing to look for the video when i could.
needing a basic level of skill is what takes a game from babies first point and click to a game with contest, meta stuff in games lets lower skill players perform better but its still the good players that outshine all.
as for awful vehicles we have a filter at 2.7 with the valentines and crusafers to get rid of bad players like Germany has a filter at 6.7. from 4.7 britain is a very very good nation until 9.3 before the modern MBTs and premiums appear.
if you aim at the right spot first shot will be a disabling strike 90% of of the time. aim at the crew not just in the general region.
if you shoot a guy and he falls back only to kill you because you’re in the same spot that’s on you entirely, you gave your position to him.
That is entirely wrong, all that was needed to do to have the engine fit under the original Engine deck was to mount the engine leaned over to one side to lower the height of it. basically placing one of the valve covers parallel to the engine deck.
They did extensive work to see if the Meteor would fit, and even STARTED the work to convert one of the hulls over to the new engine, but the plug was pulled because the centurion was a thing.
And even then the Irish Squeezed a Meteor into a MkIV Churchill, if it can fit in that, it can fit in the BP.
I saw a guy play it hull down next to the B point in the Jungle map whatever the hell it is called. He bagged 6 before somebody dropped a bomb on him.In the right situations the BP is a beast. It does not need moving down and not with you behind the wheel : )
The Black Prince was still an infantry tank so how fast do you think it was ever going to go?
Churchill wasnt really comparable to any of the german tanks IMO, too different of a doctrine of design.
the first time we came across tigers we knocked a lot out with 6pdr gun batteries, most were too destroyed to be of use for research. Tiger 131 was maybe the biggest fluke tank knockout of the war, it was a perfect ricochet off the barrel shroud into the turret ring, here’s a photo of it that I took at Tank Fest this year. pure fluke there’s no severe damage at all but it helped make people who don’t know much about tanks beyond Lazerpig, Lindybeige and early 2000s documentary slop think it was bloody brilliant. The germans thought the Churchills they captured at Dieppe were nothing but trash for a reason
TBF the Ones captured at Dieppe were MK1’s and 2’s mostly, the absolute WORST variant. They were a bit more Fearful of the MKIII’s and IV’s. Especially in the hands of the Russian’s, since they had more experience using Heavy tanks in more offensive solo roles that befitted the Anti tank nature of the 6 pounder gun.
And yet, in nearly every game the meta weapons are used by the very best players also. Because they are good without needing some elusive quantity of ‘skill’ that is impossible to quantify. A skilled player with APHE knows weak points to use the lower pen (compared to APDS) to guarentee pens while also being able to throw snap shots that will still kill despite having less than full profiles on enemies.
4.7 you get a bunch of 17lbers on bad fast chassis. Between the poor reverse, the lack of any armor (around the same BR where autocannons start to show up), you are only competitive because the lack of tanks across ALL nations at 4.7. You get more downteirs than upteirs because of the BR moves in recent years, but i’ll take sweden’s 4.0 list over brits 4.7 any day.
5.0-8.0 you are simply outclassed at every step. Challenger /comet are mediocre at best. I’ll take a M36 or T34-85 over either. with Cent mk1 is just a worse panther with larger profile, slower speed, similar armor, and a worse gun. Charioteer is great, but lacks a competitive BR cluster. ratels are some of the worst vehicles in the game. 7.7 you get some derent selection with cent mk3, fv, conq, and eland but that leaves you with 1.0-7.7 without a good BR cluster.
If you shoot at the right spot with APHE, you will be killing the target 90% of the time. So the difference between APDS and APHE is where you shoot, but the best result with APDS is nearly always worse than APHE.
The idea of moving between each shot is nice, but 95% of WT maps don’t promote wild locations shifts. There are definitive positions on maps that are stronger than others. Especially when flanking. And its not like binocs don’t exist. If you have to assume your opponent is worse than you in order for your vehicle to be good, your argument is crap.
I agree 100% .I have the Catch That Tiger book by Noel Botham and Bruce Montague and everyone at Bovey I spoke to during Tiger Day said it was drivel and mostly fantasy.
It was an amazing stroke of luck capture the Tiger.
I was talking to Conte Barraca who was a US Marine and he agreed that its not knocking a tank out that is the issue its the ability to get it back up and running that matters. Essentially logistics.During my time we had plenty of issues that meant we would have lost a Chally one quite often if we had the same support the Germans had in Normandy.Same with the M1. We had air superiority and a mobile mechanics with engine lifting equipment. We could do much of the work for them before they arrived. When they reached us they were safe to work. They don’t even have that safety in Ukraine currently. If the Germans could have recovered and repaired the Tiger then it would have been even more legendary.
The Germans had hardly any means to recover a Tiger but that does not reflect on the tank.If I was too heavy for its own good then that does not figure in the game anyway.
Comet and Centurion made the Black Prince obsolete as you say. Widening the turret ring and tank added ten tons. The UK have scrapped better projects for less reason.
