And when did it have a free win card?
Before it arrived at the map middle at 5500m. So did P-51H, while being roughly 70km/h faster at almost every altitude and way faster climbing and accelerating and having way better range of armanent.
Yak-3U arrived seconda later while being able to outdogfight Ta with ease (and outgunning it). Griffon Spit Mk XIV/XVIII took slightly more time, but it could roflstomp Ta in a dogfight.
J2M always had the ability to curbstomp Ta in a dogfight.
Same with Spitfire Mk IX LF - this one is slightly slower at 5500m, but if it climbs after you, even at 7500m you can’t attempt to dogfight it.
F2G did just fine if it avoided turnfighting by being so much faster and better climbing.
F4U4B outgunned Ta so badly it wasn’t funny, both are 40-80km/h faster at most altitudes.
Ki-84 at 5.3 could out-dogfight Ta confidently and arrived slightly lower at the merge.
Whornet outclimbed Ta by a mile and waa so much faster and better armed.
Yeah, Ta had such an “I win button”, remember how it felt like winning when I was being chased by typical P-51H + Yak-3U duo :D
In the last few years in Ta I mostly faced US fighter/dogfighting attacker team while having 4 Ju-288 and some suicidial Me-410 on my team. Was that “free winning”? I had to fight through hordes of Shekelfires, that I was barely faster than.
I was facing swarms of Strokemasters, dozens of BIs, had to fight Su-11s, got clobbered by A2Ds. I suffered through armanent buffs for everyone, while getting armanent nerfs myself.
And somehow Ta-152H remained 6.0.
But I stopped playing, and now it’ll remain in this hellhole for the foreseeable futute. RIP Slenderplane
most fighters cant do much at its preferred altitudes of +6km, and you can dive on people making the mistake of climbing easily.
unless its the 6.3 mustang or 6.7 spits. which you outturn at those altitudes anyway. they do win the energy fight
if youre losing ot the merlin 66 at 5500m you messed up, yes the LF mkIX can turn hard but that supercharger is meant for flying on the deck and doesnt have a gear for altitude, its gutless that high up.
It doesn’t matter if it’s gutless if it can get guns on target. And it can and it will.
And it can escape energy traps, but that’s assuming you spent an eternity getting proper vertical separation.
It takes about 20 BnZ repeats to get Lf Mk IX from 5500m to the deck.
GL HF doing that in any setting but 1 v 1.
Ta-152H had some limited energy advantage vs some planes at start.
Energy advantage you could negate by goddamn flying level and being 50+km/h faster.
All Mk XVIII has to do is keep pressing S if it ever gets anywhere close to equal energy.
And all Mk XVIII has to do to go equal energy is not overdo the dodge vs LOWEST VELOCITY weapons at that BR.
Of course most Spitfire users will pull super hard. But all they had to do is barely move and German weapons will miss, while other way around - Ta can be sniped from 1000m away with Hispanos no issue.
I love it that in sim, I can’t play my Bf 109 K-4 or Ta 152 H1 except for 2 days in the week. Every other day looks like this unless I am super lucky.
I don’t know what is it about the G-14 in sim, but I find them weirdly nose heavy and super easy to put into a spin compared to the 109 K-4 or 109 F-4 OR the Il2:GB’s own 109 G-6 (late).
It might just be lack of experience with them in Warthunder though as 5.0 is also a cursed BR (Ki-84, Spit Lf Mk IX), 5.7 has 109 K-4 so why fly the gustav and 5.3 days are 4.0 days so why fly the gustav when i can fly 109 F4? (and also, 4.7 is perfect F-4 territory so no G-6 reason either)
I really need to get back to playing props, i haven’t touched props much since around a year and a half ago.
Though from what I’ve heard, stuff like the fireball are ruining the 4.3 bracket where a lot of 109s sit so I’m not too fussed
