The Bf 109 Es are underrated

So yeah, 2 BR steps up for no advantage whatsoever. Briliant.

And some guy argues with me WW2 BRs are not “dead in the water” in some other thread, lol. It’s been basically “play OP planes that will never get balanced or suffer” hellhole for quite some time.
6.0 used to be fun BR range, but now with all-airspawn, playing Ta-152H feels like playing G.55 S1 in full uptier.

At least AS now indeed has “some advantage”, because with all-airspawns you can get awfully high…

…only to watch your team getting roflstomped 2km below you.

According to Jukka Raunio’s book, Finnish Air Force test flights showed that early G-6 was 20km/h slower at sea level and 16km/h slower at 6km than G-2.
Also, both ingame Finnish G-6’s are ahistorical, they never had the 1800hp DB-605AM(/w MW-50) installed, only the earlier 1475hp DB-605A-1

yea its kinda sad (but also a godsend) that the TA-152 doesnt get a free win card because its in space as soon as the match starts and is now kinda dead.

the early griffon spitfires have a lot more value as their engine advantage over the merlin 66 actually plays a part now.

If fighters are to get airspawns (which i overall disagree with, i like the scrambles), strike aircraft, air defence fighters and bomber spawns need to have their spawn speed and altitudes improved where applicable

In Arcade, there are a great many of the lower BR planes that are now playing way above their rating.

This due to the last two times they have “sped up” the game.
Faster is not better, it’s just faster that’s all. Tail Spin was ok as a one time event,
but regular/dedicated AB players don’t really want that all the time, and we are close now.

We had a sped up with the last Update(which was not needed at all) but the one previous
to that one, a good while back. That is the one that changed things drastically.

There was a complete change to the power to weight ratio and MANY older, lighter
planes got really BIG buffs from that.
Each series of 109’s going up become slightly heavier and even with the better engines,
they still cannot perform as well as older models. And it’s not just 109’s . . .
La-5’s out fly La-7’s . . . easily now . . . I could list more, but . . .

The point being, these unrealistic changes, for whatever reason they did them, are just
not beneficial to the game and one of the side effects also is that it makes more and more
planes pretty much the same thing . . . . flight model wise.

Couple that with the Severe Damage mechanic and poor hit detection and what
we are experiencing now is very close to just an RNG interactive cartoon with
the same planes with different skins . . .
Granted not all planes perform the same, but it keeps getting closer all the time.

I personally would like to see a more consistent hit detection . . . knowing where to shoot
rather than just mashing the fire button and hoping RN Gebus blesses me.
Back to a normal speed of the game(just move the spawns back where they were already)
and planes keeping their individual characteristics they have had in the past.

Seeing a regular amount of 2.7’s and such in my 4.7 matches(even uptiers) that can keep up
(easily) and have old, outdated guns and ammo that do just as much if not more damage
takes away a great deal of “vehicle accuracy” and changes the game in a bad way . . to me.

Just set things back to where it was when we had a “game” and just . . . . let us play.

Makes sense, considering that the G-6 only received MW50 in 1944.

And when did it have a free win card?
Before it arrived at the map middle at 5500m. So did P-51H, while being roughly 70km/h faster at almost every altitude and way faster climbing and accelerating and having way better range of armanent.
Yak-3U arrived seconda later while being able to outdogfight Ta with ease (and outgunning it). Griffon Spit Mk XIV/XVIII took slightly more time, but it could roflstomp Ta in a dogfight.
J2M always had the ability to curbstomp Ta in a dogfight.
Same with Spitfire Mk IX LF - this one is slightly slower at 5500m, but if it climbs after you, even at 7500m you can’t attempt to dogfight it.

F2G did just fine if it avoided turnfighting by being so much faster and better climbing.
F4U4B outgunned Ta so badly it wasn’t funny, both are 40-80km/h faster at most altitudes.

Ki-84 at 5.3 could out-dogfight Ta confidently and arrived slightly lower at the merge.

Whornet outclimbed Ta by a mile and waa so much faster and better armed.

Yeah, Ta had such an “I win button”, remember how it felt like winning when I was being chased by typical P-51H + Yak-3U duo :D

In the last few years in Ta I mostly faced US fighter/dogfighting attacker team while having 4 Ju-288 and some suicidial Me-410 on my team. Was that “free winning”? I had to fight through hordes of Shekelfires, that I was barely faster than.
I was facing swarms of Strokemasters, dozens of BIs, had to fight Su-11s, got clobbered by A2Ds. I suffered through armanent buffs for everyone, while getting armanent nerfs myself.
And somehow Ta-152H remained 6.0.
But I stopped playing, and now it’ll remain in this hellhole for the foreseeable futute. RIP Slenderplane

most fighters cant do much at its preferred altitudes of +6km, and you can dive on people making the mistake of climbing easily.

unless its the 6.3 mustang or 6.7 spits. which you outturn at those altitudes anyway. they do win the energy fight

if youre losing ot the merlin 66 at 5500m you messed up, yes the LF mkIX can turn hard but that supercharger is meant for flying on the deck and doesnt have a gear for altitude, its gutless that high up.

g2 lowkey goated

Compared to the e models though it over heats soooo easily though which I hate

I came across this really awesome comparison video where the Bf 109T-2 takes on every other 109 variant in straight-up 1on1 dogfights.

It doesn’t matter if it’s gutless if it can get guns on target. And it can and it will.
And it can escape energy traps, but that’s assuming you spent an eternity getting proper vertical separation.
It takes about 20 BnZ repeats to get Lf Mk IX from 5500m to the deck.
GL HF doing that in any setting but 1 v 1.

Ta-152H had some limited energy advantage vs some planes at start.
Energy advantage you could negate by goddamn flying level and being 50+km/h faster.

All Mk XVIII has to do is keep pressing S if it ever gets anywhere close to equal energy.
And all Mk XVIII has to do to go equal energy is not overdo the dodge vs LOWEST VELOCITY weapons at that BR.
Of course most Spitfire users will pull super hard. But all they had to do is barely move and German weapons will miss, while other way around - Ta can be sniped from 1000m away with Hispanos no issue.

Former K4 main here.

Last time I played was couple years ago and it was one of the best performing 109 out there.

Nowadays however I have no idea since I pretty much stopped playing with props.

T2 seems pretty fun.

So of course it’s behind a paywall.

F me.

I agree, but i don’t want it to go up because it’s the only plane I have with a K/D higher than 5

I really think you’ll enjoy it and won’t be disappointed. To show Gaijin there’s still demand for lower-tier stuff, please buy it!

The Bf 109 K-4 is easily the strongest late-war 109. Superb aero, amazing visibility from the cockpit…

I love it that in sim, I can’t play my Bf 109 K-4 or Ta 152 H1 except for 2 days in the week. Every other day looks like this unless I am super lucky.

I don’t know what is it about the G-14 in sim, but I find them weirdly nose heavy and super easy to put into a spin compared to the 109 K-4 or 109 F-4 OR the Il2:GB’s own 109 G-6 (late).

It might just be lack of experience with them in Warthunder though as 5.0 is also a cursed BR (Ki-84, Spit Lf Mk IX), 5.7 has 109 K-4 so why fly the gustav and 5.3 days are 4.0 days so why fly the gustav when i can fly 109 F4? (and also, 4.7 is perfect F-4 territory so no G-6 reason either)
