I have an idea: I might share my personal favorite vehicles—tanks and aircraft—for each nation. This will focus primarily on Realistic Battles (RB). It’s always interesting to see why people choose specific tanks or planes for their RB lineups. I’ll explain why I personally like these vehicles, but I’ll keep it brief, using short bullet points. I’m curious to see how this is received!
German BR 4.0 Setup
Starting things off for the Germans is the Churchill III; I include it because it can take quite a beating and has a good gun—plus, it’s a premium vehicle.Negative he is very slow
The second vehicle I’m presenting is the Panzerbefehlswagen IV. It has a fantastic gun and is a premium vehicle. It doesn’t have great armor—pretty much anything can penetrate it—but I enjoy playing it because its gun is very powerful.
I’m a big fan of taking the 88mm gun—mounted on that bus-like vehicle—into battle. It’s quite durable, meaning it rarely gets knocked out by a single shot, and it packs a serious punch; usually, one hit is all it takes to finish an opponent. It’s capable of taking out any tank at this Battle Rating (BR), and you don’t even need to aim particularly well. The downsides, of course, are that this self-propelled gun is massive and has very limited gun depression. Still, if you position it correctly in the right spots—and provided the map is suitable—it’s a lot of fun to play.
I also enjoy playing the Sturmgeschütz III G, especially when using bushes—they’re great for concealing your position. It has an excellent gun and can take a lot of punishment; of course, experienced players know exactly where to hit it to disable it quickly, but it also deflects a great many shots.
The Wirbelwind at 37 is a very good German anti-aircraft vehicle; with its four guns and lethal rate of fire, it’s a must-have for this deck.
Now let’s talk about the aircraft: the Me 410, equipped with a 50mm anti-tank cannon, can take out quite a lot. The catch is that as soon as enemy fighters appear in the sky, you need to be careful—use “boom and zoom” tactics, make sure not to lose any speed, and the moment fighters show up, head straight back to the airfield (or try your luck, if you’re feeling daring).
As a fighter pilot, I like to take the premium Jak 1b; it’s an excellent aircraft for facing off against the highly maneuverable Russian, Japanese, and British fighters. You could, of course, use the Bf 109 F-4 instead, but the yak performs better in turn-fights—and in Ground Realistic Battles (RB) in particular, the ability to turn well is essential. You could try “boom-and-zoom” tactics with the Me, but I personally prefer a good turn-fighter
And finally, I like using the Heinkel 111 as a bomber because it carries a massive bomb capable of blowing just about anything away. It’s particularly effective against anti-aircraft guns at spawn points, or in cities where many tanks are concentrated in a small area.
