The best CAS strategy is not being CAS, so just remove jets from ground battles

Anti-air systems in the game are basically impossible to deal with in a quick engagement right now. This comes down to two main issues: lock systems that often require multiple inputs just to properly acquire a target, and air-to-ground missiles that are so slow they get easily intercepted by proximity fire or other missiles with plenty of time to react.

On top of that, newer AA platforms have been introduced with faster missiles and higher G-tolerance, which significantly increases their ability to intercept incoming threats even ones that used to slip through using close-range strategies.

To make things worse, CAS players typically spawn around 25 km away, while facing systems with engagement ranges up to 80 km. That leaves you with less than a minute to react against multiple incoming missiles from advanced systems.

Some people argue that “not all players know how to use AA properly,” but even an inexperienced player spamming missiles at radar contacts is still a functional threat. It doesn’t reduce the danger, it just reduces the number of viable attack windows regardless of your approach.

At this point, CAS is being gradually pushed out of relevance. Ground attack opportunities are shrinking, while anti-air capabilities keep expanding in Ground Realistic Battles.

Because of that, the most reasonable solution would be to remove aircraft from MBT matches entirely. That would be more acceptable than the current situation, where every update further limits CAS gameplay forcing you to spawn, try to lock a target in a few seconds, and then spend the next moments waiting to get hit by a missile you realistically can’t evade.

Its just the usual balance shift that occurs in GRB. Spaa was very underpowered 3 years ago, then the pantsir shifted the balance, then the Euro canards and so on.

Just wait until Anti-Radiation missiles come to the game then your cas will be good again, for now you just have to learn to adapt

This isnt a tank only post, its an spaa op post. OP wants to play cas but keeps dying to spaa so hes saying they should remove planes since theyre useless rn

11.3, 11.0, 10.7 and below brs have viable cas options while still being at mbt era. Kurnass/f4e, super etendard, su25t/tm, su25bm, mig27m/k, su24m, su17/22m4, a10a late, a7e, a7d, a7k, ayit, ajs37 and many others.

11.7 is another story because it gets pulled to 12.7 with iris t, sm sv, buk, sampt etc. I dont really understand what f111f is supposed to do against those systems with its dinosaurs era rwr, weaponry, size and speed bleeding. Guess bombers must be miserable at all brs.

I dont think jets should be removed in the end. There are many usable options and game doesnt force you to spawn cas against your will.

now just give Pantsir / UltraMegaFlak3000 to some other team that goes against russia often enough (but not always, to still bait some CASers), so that the russian CAS issue is also removed, and voila, tank battles are tank battles again lol

Don’t spawn in mid-air, and even if you do, less than a minute is enough to get down, right? You spawn, what do you do? You don’t play for a minute?

I’d like to be able to debate the topic of my post more directly, but no matter what the subject is, there are always people who completely derail the discussion. The problem is that even when something in the game is clearly absurd, it only gets worse if it doesn’t affect everyone all it takes is a majority thinking more countermeasures are needed against the minority.

That’s exactly what’s happening with the new Russian vehicle “ BMP…” and now with the new AA systems at top tier ( EXCLUSIVELY ) at top tier.

Regarding the air spawn point: I agree it’s not forced on the player. But it wouldn’t even be necessary if jets actually had to take off and spend 5~10 minutes reaching a proper combat altitude assuming they don’t get shot down first, since radars can detect targets at around 900 meters altitude with ranges up to 180 km.

In practice, in about 80% of matches, air players can’t have any real impact on tank battles. That’s because anti-air systems are so effective that even a new player can take down an experienced CAS pilot using high-G ( 70G ) missiles with extremely high speeds.

On top of that, defensive maneuvering depends heavily on G-force tolerance, and many players don’t have ACE crews yet, which makes tight evasive maneuvers much harder. You also spawn about 25 km away already under threat from missiles faster than your initial speed, while carrying heavy loadouts like 8 air-to-air missiles ( 9M or 120B ), 12 air-to-ground missiles, and targeting pods. All that extra weight further reduces your aircraft’s responsiveness.

The end result is a situation where your reaction time is extremely limited often under a minute against systems like the Buk-M3 or newer AA platforms with highly maneuverable, extremely fastmissiles
( especially considering current map sizes ).

Thats more than enough to break line of sight with them and/or notch already launched missile. And even if you increase map size. Jets have no good weaponry rn for such ranges (which couldnt get shot down easily) and target pods are limited to 30km.
