Even though the new F-16A OCU’s BR placement is ridiculous, this take feels a bit wild.
F-16A(USAF) itself is also a problematic plane as nearly every 12.0+ jet is.
Still, F-16A OCU’s placement feels bizarre.

The F16AJ was a proposed aircraft for Japan which ended up being beaten by the F15 in a program set to replace the F104J. The depiction of the F16AJ in game is basically fictional but the actual “AJ” was an F16 from the 1980s (I don’t know the exact block like block 10 or 15) and the program itself was from the 1980s meaning the Aim-9M could have been equipped if the F16 was chosen as the Aim9M was fielded around 1983

I think it’s probably worth bringing up the other Belgian F-16A in the techtree with AIM-9Ms (but no Magic 2) is at 13.0, so I really don’t see how it can be lower than that.
Even the mirage 2000cs5 can’t get 4 magic 2 at 12.7
It makes no sense to have the ocu at 12.7

Considering the F-15 that did win the competition used AIM-9L until the AAM-3 was done, while Japan never bought AIM-9M I don’t think it’s reasonable to assume it would get these.
That being said it wouldn’t be the first speculative thing on the plane it shouldn’t have, since that title goes to the PW-220 engine that didn’t exist until after it was rejected. Since it’s based on a mid-70s Block 10 it would’ve had the PW-200 engine instead.
So based on that it’s not only a downgraded version of the proposal, but also represented after a hypothetical change to the engine loosely based on what the F-15s got. At that point giving it AAM-3 would at least fit their made up theme (Gaijin please don’t)

Guess I am blind then. But I agree completely that this BR is just a weird choice when there is a prefect reference in the techtree that only has air to ground armament over the new one (while we have separate ground BRs)
So… by this logic, all the other F-16s at 12.3-13.0 should be going down in BR?
Belgian F-16 is 13.0 with a worse radar/rwr and its one “benefit” is countermeasure pods that frankly, it doesn’t need.
Netz is 12.7 without IRCCMs or radar missiles.
F-16AJ is 12.7 without IRCCM and two less than ideal AIM-7Fs that have just about the same range as AIM-9M unless your targets doesnt attempt to evade at all.
F-16A in the USA is 12.3 with just AIM-9L
Why should the aircraft with a clearly better loadout be at the same or lower BR than the other F-16s? Its obvious the answer here is not to lower the BR of all the other F-16s, but to raise the BR of the F-16A OCU to its appropriate BR of 13.0 with the other F-16 with IRCCMs.
Thats actually very good reasoning I didnt realize the engine change but yes in general the AJ can pretty much have whatever gaijin wishes to give it but as you said its better as it is. I dont want the AJ specifically to get the 9M but it was the first f16 that came to mind when thinking about it. Thank you for the fact about the engine and the f15.

Way to avoid the actual issue of the BR being clearly lower than it should be.
The issue is not LOWERING the BR, it needs to go to 13.0 like the other IRCCM carrying F-16.
The point was made by OP. Gaijin clearly knows what they are doing because they just added a superior version of the TT 13.0 F-16A at a lower BR.
Because it’s a squadron vehicle that can be early accessible by spending about 45-50€ worth of GJ coin. And since gaijin will gladly ruin game balance over money every time, here we are.
