these 2 will sometimes have to race for bases lmao
Not sure whether I agree or not that its “fast enough”. It can just about work, but is a free kill to things like the F-104 and F-106, etc.
Bomb load is totally irrelevant for 2 main reaosns
-
Just because you can take out multiple bases doesnt mean you actually will and whilst you can drop extra bombs on AI targets, this leaves you fairly vulnerable and the rewards arent very good for doing this
-
there is the deminishing returns mechanics. The more bombs you take the less reward per bomb you will get. For example on the Tornados. I will earn way more running 5x bombs, getting 1x base kill and then trying to sneak an A2A kill, than running 10-12 bombs and attempting to get 2 bases or 1 base and some ai kills. (this is the main one. If bomb load already has a mitigation then it should be excluded from BR considerations)
The only thing I agree with is the CM pods, which is why ive switched to Buc S2 buffs (like Napalm) rather than BR drop for it.
I do see the B-66 having a tricky time. Unlike the Buc S2, its much larger and turns a lot worse. The really big question is how it handles getting airbourne. I would be very worried that by the time I did and was enroute to a target, that the Harriers, Yak-28Bs, etc would have killed all the bases and you will be sat twiddling your thumbs. Whilst this is not uncommon and a major ARB issue. 9.0 and no air spawn does sound like a nasty wombo for it to deal with. It will take an exceptionally good rear gun or a notable speed advantage to handle either of those issues, both im not sure it would do even that fully.
Them getting on my tail requires a lot of preparation on their part and me being blind.
I’ve never climbed high in bombers outside simulator during a bombing run. The only reason I find to do so is to get out of SPAA range.
My Bucc S2 has a 3:1 survival rate.
My Italian F-84F has a 2:1 survival rate.
My B-57A has a 2:1 survival rate.
[I used B-57B as a fighter when I was bad at using fighters.]
I have a 1.7:1 survival rate in Canberra Mk6.
Canberra Mk2 doesn’t have a survival rate yet cause I haven’t died in it.
My Vautour IIB survival rate is 3.6:1.
Only the fighter-bomber has one close to 1:1 because I used it too much as a fighter instead of doubling down on using it as a bomber.
And so on and so forth.
If you want to know why many bombers are their BRs; that’s why. High survival rates in aircraft by people that learned how to not die in bombers. And we’re open on the tactics we use. You can learn them too.
They aren’t 100%, nothing is. They get you to bases and howitzers/field anti-air consistently though.
@Morvran
I’m aware that those fighters are under-BR’d because I said it myself.
Only one of those have more than 30 matches on it. Not enough data. I will give you credit those stats are solid so far. But you have 0 game effect and it gives a fraction of the rewards for 10x the effort bc they are just so useless by design
I miss the days base bombing drained more tickets and fragging bombers was a necessity instead of a liability.
Ive thrown this together and I think its relevant to this thread
That we can agree on
You cant shoot down aim-9 with your very op weapon in the form of rear turret? Pathetic, skill issue.
(c) Gaijin
it absolutely can hit bombers at altitude very well, i use them for exactly that
It seems some people (ahem, alvis) have forgotten that air and ground have different BRs for aircraft.
I think B-66 should be 8.7 arb and keep af spawn (unless similar bombers are given airspawn) and 9.0 in grb.
mig 17 and mig 19 will use B66 as its chew toy if it doesnt get a airspawn even mig 15 could intercept it easily it has no advanatge anymore if your saying other wise youve never played a bomber J35D and F104s will have fun too
to be fair all bombers around its BR are doing better than it yak 28 gets afterburning turbo fans and a mach 2 speed that or in a uptier you face a F105 and it will be faster than you
those tatics wont save you from a AIM7D from a F4C or a AIM-9J from a J35D or R3R from Mig 21 or a mig 19 or a f100 or mig 17 or F86 F40 literally any fighter all of these will fire a missile and force you to turn bleeding speed while they dont so they catch you and gun you down unless the Radar guided tail gunner is really op which i doubt it will die
gaijin forgot too
9.0 seems kinda high, especially considering stingers, and vehicles like the SAAB-105
It cannot hit numbers at 3000 meters.
@Pangolin_Fan
Saab-105 is inferior to B-66 in CAS and strategic bombing.
@BACKRAGE44428-live F-4C pilots don’t often use their aircraft as fighters, and they’d be more worried about my team’s 10.0s than trying to find me.
Mig-19 and F-100 aren’t fast enough to go off course to find some unknown bomber they don’t even know exists.
Air RB doesn’t have constant markers like air arcade.
So yeah, as a bomber main, B-66 should stay 9.0.
9.3 fighters being compressed is no justification for moving powerful bombers down.
I dont really care if its doa, since i will use it to rp as a civilian airliner
Are these 3000lb demolition bomb more lethal than normal 3000lb bomb like the ones found on F111a? Why does it have the word “demolition” in the name or maybe I just never knew its called that
B-57 straight to 6.3 then since it perform literally almost the same as the German Ar234-B2.
Yea say that to most of Russian vehicle
Soviet vehicles do require skill.
IL-28 is a worse B-57.
B-66 is hilariously superior to B-57 and IL-28, and generally superior to Buccaneer S1.
B-66 is marginally superior to Vautours.
