We all know that installing explosive reactive armor (ERA) requires a certain base armor thickness. Otherwise, when the ERA activates, it could potentially damage the armor itself. Clearly, the hull armor of the VT5 in the game is completely incorrect.
I don’t think the armor is finished yet. If you look at the side part of it is straight up missing its armor, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the tank isn’t fully done yet.
Dear development team, could you please explain how the excessively long 105mm rounds are supposed to be retrieved from the fuel tank in the hull, passed through this turret basket, and then loaded into the rear ammunition compartment? It seems a bit unclear, and we’d love to better understand the design logic behind this.
However, the test server is almost over, and if no changes are made, I have reason to believe this will be the final version (and the protection is indeed very poor. This is a 33-ton tank, yet in the game, it has worse protection than lighter infantry fighting vehicles. Additionally, the hull is missing composite armor).
test server is test server not live server. they often make a lot of changes after the test server is done. this isnt a priority thing to fix for the test server.
have patience and only complain after they have introduced it to the game and it has a problem. otherwise consider it WIP
In addition to the incorrect armor protection on the VT5, the hull is missing composite armor, and the spall liner is also absent.
There is no video, textual, or photographic evidence proving that the VT5 has a turret basket structure. Moreover, according to manual data from Chinese defense exhibitions, its frontal armor should withstand direct hits from 100mm main gun armor-piercing shells, while its side armor can resist strikes from small-caliber autocannon armor-piercing incendiary rounds. However, the current test server version of the VT5 falls far short of this claimed performance level, which is truly disappointing.
Perhaps I am being a bit impatient. However, it’s not the first time the development team has pushed unfinished content directly to the live server. Additionally, when errors from the test server carry over to the live server, it often takes several updates after acknowledgment before the issues are actually addressed. This is something that’s quite difficult for the community to accept.
Look what I found 🤣 In the DEV version, the English and Chinese content is consistent regarding protection, stating that “both the hull and turret have composite armor.” However, the Russian version surprised me, specifically pointing out that “the tank’s own homogeneous armor can only withstand machine gun fire, but composite protection modules are installed on the front of the hull and turret, slightly improving the VT5’s ability to withstand shaped charge projectiles.” The reasoning behind this difference can’t help but make one curious.
lmao dm the person who wrote those
If the development team made the VT5 based on the Russian version of the DEV, then it indeed matches their description 🥲.
Kind weird cuz I thought the dev blog are written by one language and translate then.
Gaijin try to tell us the 350mm thick Turret Armor can only defend 12.7mm machine gun。Is it made of wood but not steel?😅
It is evident that the VT-5 tank, weighing in at around thirty tons, and the Japanese Type 10 tank in “War Thunder,” which exceeds forty tons, exhibit a stark contrast in armor protection capabilities. While both utilize tail-shaft autoloading mechanisms, the Type 10 and its predecessor, the Type 90, lack the large turret basket structures observed in the VT-5’s test server. Players often receive responses from officials citing “insufficient development capacity” for not implementing similar internal details across all vehicle lines in the game. This claim is paralleled by the game’s ongoing struggles in maintaining feature parity among different vehicle classes. The situation humorously reflects a perceived resource allocation disconnect, as the game’s operator, Gaijin Entertainment, has demonstrated sustained investment in game maintenance. Players cynically speculate that such details may only be implemented “on the eve of service termination”—a sentiment that echoes broader concerns about game development priorities.
I think the current vt5 protection and internal structure is wrong, if the data state of the test suit into the formal service, Not many players will pay for it
nah,36 tons Chinese modern mbt’s armor<equal weight old t54,yeah,very accurate right?
The front armor of VT5 is definetely wrong. Why a “light mbt” can be easily penetrated by .50, even 5.8mm gun? Is the armor in VT5 made of air, paper and woods? Unreasonable!
