Did the C+ ever use the Mk 60 motor? For that extra thrust but shorter burn time would probably make the Phoenix feel a little bit less sluggish in closer engagements ngl
the f-14b can use the eccm version with adaptation.
if you search on IA will tell that the mk60 engine have more thrust but less burning time

Also I would recommend when searching for sources don’t only look at what ctrl+f shows up. One of the reasons this was so hard to find was because it wasn’t scanned in a 1000 page document and didn’t show up in the searches:

I use DTIC a lot too. I got that from Google Books though. Lots of Government hearings are posted on there where basically 2 people get together and try to justify military spending, in which the Navy or it’s contractors are forced to make information public.
