Hughes Aircraft is just magic I guess.
yep
Laser? Or does it use passive methods like pirate on eurofighter?
yeah passive modes like Pirate. Although it does heavily improve LANTIRN performance when used in conjunction iirc
I mean, reading through some of the sources, it does not say pulse doppler. It mentions frequency modulation, so this likely points towards a FMCW type signal, not a pulse (doppler) type. In any case, for all intends and purposes, FMCW is very similar to pulse doppler in that both are able to resolve range and doppler shift, just in FMCW case range is encoded through frequency differences (known as the beat frequency). This would similarly as a PD signal, allow for beam aspect tracking. So the report is not probably not correct in the sense that the AIM-54C should be pulse doppler, but rather it should be FMCW (opposed to CW of AIm-54A). In-game, it can just be modelled as a pulse doppler.
Look-down can already be solved using just CW (like the AIM-54A), but the point was that this new seeker also had beam aspect ability.
That would make sense why Pulse Doppler or MPRF never showed up as a mention for the Aim-54C! Nice find.
@malucobeleza171-psn If you want you could resubmit the report with this new info.
There is better information on AIM-54C seeker available.
post it
Forum about F-14B should be 12.7 gone again. Sadly.
Not sadly the conclusion was made and wasn’t needed
Just do this its ok and didnt need to change br.
F-14B 13.0
-AIM-9M
-AIM-7P
-PD all aspect
F-14A 12.7
-AIM-9L
-AIM-7M
-PD all aspect
I really wish I could get a late-model F-14A, an F-14B(U), or an F-14D… and I’ll keep hoping forever that they’ll raise the BR cap so each Tomcat can perform reliably…
I hope that will be the case for all aircraft in other countries as well.
Post the better info on the Seeker
Left on read 🥀
Lmao fr though like I had to dig for about a week in the wayback machine/internet archive to even find evidence of those sources. If he has better info we need that.
Why add the AIM-9L to an aircraft whose main advantage is the AIM-54 missile? This will inevitably lead to an increase in the combat rating. As a result, the aircraft will end up in conditions where more advanced fighters are flying, against which the AIM-9 will no longer be useful.
AIM-7M = AIM-7F
Literally. In the game, their parameters are identical.
Just try SIM. There, it has a rating of 12.3 and does not encounter opponents scarier than MIG-23 and JH-7, half of which do not have launch alerts.
If there are documents confirming this possibility, then this is how it should be. But, again, be prepared to increase his rating. The current radar is sufficient to launch the AIM-54.
I think in game performance the aim7m is better than the aim7F and is more reliable
Most aircraft in this br have access to irccm missiles and all aspect missiles aim54 isn’t everything and are as easy to dodge as irccm missiles
Depends on it’s performance once and if it gets this buff
