Hey @vizender sorry to tag you, I went ahead and actually ran the test myself for science.
In this clip you can see what I think is the pinnacle of spaghetti code, initially, the HMS doesn’t let me launch, then after a simple cicle of weapons, it does.
I retract my previous statement and you were indeed correct, honesty when it’s due:

Can also confirm that, it’s easy to replicate by switching to ESM and back. Similar problem existed for every other aircraft with Pastel ESM, i think you would remember the moment where you could launch R-27ER with a IRST lock. But most of it was patched outside Su-30SM and derivatives

and their is a reason they had better stats, its because they are better planes
AAM-3 is a significant upgrade over AIM-9M
and Baz has a different radar that retains a pulse mode so it auto switches to that where F15A and F15AJ would just lose lock (their radar is very unreliable at holding lock)

I don’t think it’s as unstable as the F16, however it is an unstable delta-wing design. The wing was moved further back compared to the Mirage 3. The addition of leading edge slats and FBW controls were a requirement of the Mirage 2000 for that reason.
Truth nuke. As I said, it’s better in most aspects compared to the Mirage 4000 in a Fox 1/Fox 3 META and yet it’s at a lower BR range.
My personal belief is that Gaijin tends to add things as they become useful for major nations. I do have the impression that russia benefits more from this, after all they have add more unique additions (both air and ground here) than the others. Meanwhile many other vehicles are stuck with nothing or only getting things as major nations get it. The more recent example is the fact that Russian jets can use ESM outside of their missiles, but things like the EFT can’t without having HARMS, and the Rafale straight up doesnt have ESM as it doesnt carry HARM, while there are multiple reports regarding mechanics extremely close to ESM hanging. But as they are not exactly what the Russian jet carries, then it can’t have it
Not at 13.0 where everything is ruled by radar missiles, be it SARH or ARH.
i would believe in that if i didn’t play F-15A myself, this thing holds lock very well, and significantly better than N019 on a MiG-29. Only real downside of APG-63 is lack of TWS mode for situational awareness, but this can be overcome with experience
its also notable how much better the ESM on the russian jets is
while HARM and HTS have such a slow scan rate it is functionally useless, as you are better off just activating HARM seeker and scanning with that

because this is a feature of L-150 itself. And while it does benefite from built-in ESM, on itself it is literally the worst RWR at top tier.
which is another example of a difference in requirements as the APG-63PSP on the F15A and F15AJ should have both TWS and detailed NCTR, with both having been reported
the first was denied claiming the in game radar is an “early version” which is something that didnt exist IRL, and the second was denied because the ingame radar lacked TWS
ok?
its a feature of other planes RWRs too, and those dont get it in game.
eg PoBit, superhornet, rafale, and probable EFT all should have it
MiG-23 still has old scan pattern of repeating top and bottom line despite reports and a literal YT video of its scan pattern being available. F-15 is not a unique case
ah yes, totally and equivalent of the radar missing both TWS and detailed NCTR
Of the other things that irk me :
- The French/German and Italian helicopters are still missing their missile HMS while the AH1Z has it despite them using the same HMS and their missiles being cleared for HMS
- BMP2 / BTR82 AT having their missile optic aiming while things like spike and Akeron launchers don’t despite being them being locked (and guided, but it’s MITL that is not added to tanks) through the missile optical camera
- Russian ERA being so much better against both CE and KE - even when there are reports with actual values for Western ones (like the Brenus being 100mm RHA against kinetic - several years old accepted report btw)
3D targeting of enemy radars, so ESM but fancier, is a feature of the SPECTRA RWR of the rafale. Instead of probably waiting a few years for more jets to have similar feature to add it to the rafale, they could simply implement the simpler ESM for now
nope, even without HTS it should have it
can you link me a bug report then?
because by brief search i can only see it being referred specifically as a targeting pod, not as a built-in system
and were the reports denied for no reason like the F15 radar ones?
They were straight up ignored
And i think MiG-23 and MiG-25 at this point are the only aircrafts in the entire game that still use old scan pattern
Fair point, ill click on it too. If it can, it should have this capability.
and? there are hundreds of reports
at least the devs/brms didnt go out of their way to incorrectly deny them
