Good question, can’t say if its better low down, but I operate at around 10km altitude as much as possible, and its not worth using A/B at all up there vs C-5/D.
I would say C-5/D is still better, or at least good enough.
I got into a close fight with a Super Hornet earlier and he threw a 2km 120D at me when I was like, 90* above his plane (his cockpit was pointed at me) and it hit.
HOLY hahaha
I feel like if they fixed the >10 km wobbling or autopilot overcorrection in BVR it’d be perfect. Just reduce the AoA if the target’s far away to save energy, no need to use most/all of it on the way there if they start to turn
(This applies to all missiles, btw, not just AMRAAM)
I was uh…
Surprised and unhappy to say the least.
Yeah they’re all still overtuned
Pretty much why ive not touched top tier since the update bar 2 matches. Just got fed up of most missiles just spinning out. Waiting for them to fix it before I can be bothered to try again
Play Nuclear Escalation. I’ve been having a blast just bombing AA. Only really had to use A-A missiles like 2-3 times.
Did they fix the RWR spam issues?
Last time I tried the EFT in the NE test event, I had a headache within about 5 minutes.
I wish they’d bump up naval rewards, it’s so fun flying off the carrier
No real way to turn it down (unless you want less reaction time, turn RWR sensitivity down in settings). At this point I’ve tuned it out lol. MAW helps a bit more to know what’s actually coming for me and not my teammates ahead of me
Rewards in general are a bit low, IMO, but I guess for a mode where on average matches last about 30-40 mins, it should still lead to a decent amount if you stay for the whole thing
Yeah, thats not a bad idea actually, even just 80% RWR sensitivity might help mitigate it.
But that is one of the core reasons why I jsut couldnt play it much, the sheer amount of RWR noise (both literal and metaphorical) was insane
Off-topic now, but the issue imo is its balanced around nukes, not conventional weapons of any kind
Just a bit.
I saw this earlier, a friend was streaming and hit quite an interesting clip.

MICA pulling a 180* turn within 1km, maxxing out at 58g’s and hitting the target.
Assist and kill credit for naval targets needs a rework too. Even if your munitions get shot down, if it’s within like 10-15s of someone else’s hitting it still helped overwhelm defenses
But the forrestal is very buggy for landing and takeoff
I don’t know if it’s because the center of gravity is not correct.
If it’s PID, I don’t see how they’ll fix it since PID will always be dependent on the server tick rate to handle it, and gaijin’s netcode doesn’t seem to have ever improved on that aspect. By tuning down PID, the turning ability will also be reduced (see PL12 huge nerf a few updates back)
Welcome to ASB for the past 5 years.
I would happily trade some of this excessive turning for slightly better medium and long range performance
Enough to better match or exceed PL-12A and R-77-1
Yup, seeing non tvc missiles hitting 90+ aoa is ridiculous. Basically everyone gets a tvc missile, no point of carrying any of the short range ir missiles if you don’t have to
Gunna put this here too, in case anyone else has any other sources that can be used.
Aim-120A, B and C5 are limited to being fired within the FoV of their seeker, which is +/- 55°.
This secondary source from the book “harrier: how to be a fighter pilot” shows that an Aim-120B can be fired outside of the seekers FoV but within the FoR of the launch aircrafts radar. Which for the Blue Vixen on the Sea Harrier FA2 is a +/- 70°

This source alone is not enough to bug report this, as it would be considered a secondary source. But if anyone else has another secondary source to go with it, then it might be enough to report it and get a buff for the AMRAAM on basically every single aircraft, allowing AMRAAM to be fired at a target anywhere within the FoR of the launch aircrafts radar (which makes sense)
Rough replication of the shot from above
AMRAAM wont fire
crazy AIM-424 prediction
