r511: am I a joke to you?

At bare minimum it can kill Tu-4’s-

So does the SRAAM

Fair, but you find the R511 at like what, 8.3? SRAAMs are like 9.7ish.

A Saab-105G is able to fully destroy a base by itself. I’ve seen it done, it just requires the 4 1k lb bombs, as well as 2 more 500lb bombs.

This assumes that he consistently gets 2:1 K/D in all other vehicles (at least similar to it).
If he is getting a 3:1 K/D in others, but a 2:1 K/D in the Chieftain, then it means the Chieftain is a worse vehicle, or that the player doesn’t know how to play it correctly yet.

Also, sample size does matter.

It’s much easier to have a better K/D with only 50 matches than a better K/D with 550 matches.
Consistency matters and the bigger the sample size, the less great games / crap games (statistical anomalies) have an impact on the mean K/D.

Great example:
8 matches where I get 2 kills and 2 matches where I get 10.
This averages out to a 3.6, even though I am more consistenly getting around 2 kills.

Yes, and the mobility makes most British tanks at the BR somewhat uncompetitive, but fine in regular matches.

100% Agree.
The shell doesn’t shell shatter, unlike earlier APDS (from what I can remember), better angle pen than 3BM25 (from the T-55AM), and has similar angle pen to 3BM4, found on the T-62’s, as well as having higher angle of attack with 100% chance of ricochet.
Needless to say, the shell is not an issue.

Yes, NATO 105s will outreload the Chieftain most of the time, but most USSR vehicles will reload at the same rate (7.5s), with the Object 685 reloading much quicker (6.0s), and the T-62 (M-1)/ Object 435 / T-10M reloading slightly slower (8.0s).

Turret armour is decent, but it cannot be used very well against most APFSDS, including the abysmal 3BM25 from the T-55AM-1.
ATGMs go through it fairly easily as well (including every MBT at the BR other than the BRENUS and ZTZ59D1, which both have somewhat decent ERA).

Yes (due to the lack of gun depression), but can utilize its turret armour around hills and behind destroyed tanks (with their turret missing) / small obstacles.

Yes.

I find it holds up pretty well against the early Soviet APFSDS.

I’m a big Mk.3/5 enjoyer, they’re decent enough tanks and I wouldn’t call them bad at all, the biggest problem I have with them besides the reload is the Mk.10 is right there at 9.0 and it’s hard to not just play that instead.

I mean, I could see it be some trouble against inexperienced players, but I wouldn’t doubt good players knowing to shoot for the left cheek, which is where the gunner and commander are situatated at, even with 3BM25 or 3BM4 / 3BM3.

except his KD isnt 3:1 most of other vehicles and you can check that for yourself

considering you could get 2 kills per death through 50 matches consistently it is a good enough sample size.
if the vehicle wasnt suitable for the battle rating you wouldnt be able to have a 2 kills per death through 50 matches that start with a stock grind. having fewer matches means theres more matches that have effect of you being stock or low on modifications which should lower your performance and you already are doing well like that tells more about the performance of the tank

forgot the part where you can also have matches with 0 kills.

and considering the sample size isnt 10 and is 50 it is rather consistent already. having 2kd since being near stock and not having much matches with full modifications is something interesting.
he would probably have better KD ratio if he wasnt so low on matches due to lack of modifications being present for most of those matches

Ohh man if production dates meant anything, you better not look to when the Nanchang Q-5L entered service… (hint, + 2000’s).

I think I’d rather be in a Supermarine Swift F.7 then a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23BN.

cheers for the info!

The amount of sweats here who go on about their 2-3-4 KDR - only to see they’ve only played 50 games in a vehicle. Good for a source of laughs. Good to also see who has skipped stock grinds in some vehicles. It also stinks of first spawns and one death leaving, often. Some people here get so wound up about it that they would rather leave a battle than to spawn a vehicle when the battle is winding down or the odds are stacked against them. Anyway, I ain’t subscribing to no Britain suffers rubbish, either. Only thing stopping me from bothering with the Chief Mk.3 is the fact I love Britain 8.3. I am an APDS enjoyer. Apart from the Chally2s - British ground tree is good fun, competitive, and worthwhile. Some of the air tree, though…
