Team killing policy - follow up thread

Neither…I have been PC for as long as I have played(1.5 years), and RDX is my first and only account

why do you ask?

Its just rare to see people be only level 35 and also complain about low level players lol

Ohhh. That makes sense, but I am experienced enough to locate a headcase when I see one

Something needs to be done with Prop BR’s and tking, in fact I’m thinking of creating my own thread because MY GOD, is the problem bad.

i’m gonna link the whole replay once the game is done because I think the total number of teamkills got over 6 in total, and this isn’t an anomaly either! I’m currently slogging through the ranks to escape the hell that is Prop BR’s and literally every single game I’ve had at least one teamkill happen. I mostly play jets and this very rarely happen in Jet BR’s, no wonder no one plays props unless they have to.

I imagine this whole phenomenon is due to people feeling frustrated by the miserable pace of prop games, how repetitive and stale the prop gameplay loop is and having to fly useless vehicles?

Another tk thread:

I do agree that gaijin needs to (finally) lower the thrrsholds for temp bans in case of intentional teamkilling.

As i play exclusively Air RB at prop BRs this might help you:

As you fly WW 2 era props some of my own Golden Rules which might help to reduce the times you get attacked by friendlies:

  1. If you use aircraft with airfield spawn - spawn in as last guy, and take off as last guy. Keep an eye on the guys with airspawn behind and above the runway - a lot of team kills (either with guns or by ramming) happen when those guys dive on your team.
  2. If you use aircraft with airspawn - spawn as last and break away from the others immediately.
  3. Observe always friendlies near you - you can judge by their flight patterns if they are hostile.
  4. Stay out of furballs - focus on enemies extending from furballs
  5. Avoid Chinese props - idk why but this Taiwan/Mainland animosity somehow increases the chances to become a target. If you are the fastest boy in your team and the lobby is crowded with CHN players: Use team chat and state “China #1” or “Taiwan #1” (your choice) and look what happens 😎
  6. Stay out of in-game chat in general (except you want to spice up the match like point #5) - do your thing, stay away from friendlies, but close enough in order to help them if necessary.

With these “rules” you can play way more relaxed.

Regarding #2: I got teamkilled twice (in the last 12 months) even as i spawned last - the 2 guys joined the lobby after i started my take-off run and spawned within seconds, so it is just safe if you have a full 16 vs 16 lobby…

pluh

I’m an OG so I remember things like the phantoms rocketing runways and other fun little events, so I usually wait for everyone to take off and avoid friendlies (ennemies in blue really…) as much as possible, I got tked so little that I couldnt actually give you one example, maybe once when flying the saar because y’know (not that I disagree, I actually thought that was funny). I’m just pissed because I get limited playtime and those matches aren’t fun since were down players.

oooh boy now this is advice is should really use…

Jesus these last few posts are crazy, especially 6 TKs in a prop match…

I only play sim, the only time you get a prop team kill is when you accidentally touch a friendly in a fight and they crash later (so you get the TK like five minutes after the fight)

Or when someone lands with their guns as a break, but that is more of an A-10 problem…

Otherwise friendly missiles and new players not knowing how to use radar IFF, or the obligatory first mistake of firing a Sparrow at a furball…

The 90k silver penalty for TKs that is not absorbed by premium insurance is painful lol
You can have full political arguments in the chat and people still don’t just shoot you

Although the “everyone takes off immediately from the same runway” is not an issue in ASB, so that is a factor

the REAL question is…

…could this get me banned?

Apparently, teamkilling is perfectly justifiable if you’re flying an Israeli aircraft. Well, according to Chat it is. I mean it’s tough enough putting up with the Sakeen without having to be wary of your own team too 😂

Is this attitude prevalent throughout the BRs, because if it is, there’s no point carrying on trying to grind Israel.

If someone uses body pillows on their tank. Its not teamkill its way to haven!

If somebody takes the effort to read the whole thread it is obvious that gaijin reacts either way too late (meaning with temp bans for team killing) or is unable to find the right mix between punishing team killers and protecting of the majority of players who are somehow able to avoid team killing.

So in order to change the current state of Air RB it is time to think about different strategies to deal with that.

Based on my perception of team kills in Air RB it seems that the majority of team killers can be clustered into 3 categories:

  1. Griefers = Players with the goal to prevent others from scoring
  2. Frustrated Tankers = Unable to play Air RB somehow successful
  3. Low-IQ Players = Guys unable to understand the game & mechanics

Currently gaijin track team kills with their auto-ban tool - but the threshold to get a temp ban (1D, 1 W, etc) is way too high

I recommend that gaijin rethinks their strategy for temp bans as following:

  1. Set up of a team kills counter for all modes
  2. Counting team kills in RB and SB modes
  3. Auto ban for RB and SB modes at minimal thresholds
  4. Set up of a fast appeal process in case bans were false

Example:

Little Timmy is a tanker and plays Air RB to spade a CAS plane. With the first team kills he gets an automated warning that after his second team kill within the next 10 days he will get a 2 day temp ban for RB and SB modes, but is still allowed to play AB modes.

After the 2 day ban the next two team kills with 30 days after his 2 day ban will grant him a week RB and SB mode ban. And so on…

If gaijin is smart they exclude Naval RB and SB modes from these bans, this might help to populate this mode with wt addicted players - and RB and SB bans for Ground an Air modes allow them still to play (and spend money / benefit from premium time) whilst all other players in RB & SB modes are protected.

And i do not talk about being protected from getting team killed - the impact on the numbers game is often way more decisive as most Air RB matches are decided as TDM match…

I would like to introduce everyone to “what constitutes a teamkill”, this time our little helper is not Captain_Cobvious, but some random griefer ramming a nuke plane:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/1r80hnj/finally_got_a_nuke/

I know, I know, it’s reddit, but I can’t embed Reddit videos elsewhere.

Anyway, as clearly evident, when getting rammed YOU ARE THE OFFENDER.
Learn it guys and learn it fast. If you are getting abused, IT’S YOUR OWN DAMN FAULT.
You should have been stronger.
I just don’t get why the same logic is not applied to actual teamkills.
I mean, if somebody didn’t want to be teamkilled, he should have avoided his teamkiller teammate, sideclimb and git gud, preferably by buying a pay2win premium plane.

Then there are troll squads, last time at 5.7 I met 1 guy in Fw 190 D9 with 2 Fw 200C squadmates. Guess who got accidentaly spanked after takeoff. If such people get shot down (always accidentaly aim at the high BR dude, so he has to watch his low BR buddy struggle while getting bored to death himself), I don’t think there’s anything morally wrong in it.

go play toptier ARB, u will see how u lose 50k in a blink.
