Funnily enough, in game its MODELED as the 120mm Variant.
It has the larger, longer Barrel and thermal shroud of the 120.
The 105 it was fitted with IRL had a much shorter barrel, and smaller thermal shroud and barrel, that left a gap between the gun barrel and the gun mount on the IRL tank. Or the Recoil mechanism is damaged, but i doubt that.
Except the Gun in the Rooikat MTTD was the GT-7. Not the GT-12.

Excelsior A33/1: A Alternate, Possibly tech tree version of the Excelsior we have in game, that was slightly different with exposed tracks, a 6 pounder gun, and a few differences in armor thicknesses. Along with a pintle mount for a .50cal. The Americans could ALSO get the A33/1, as it was the prototype that sent to America for testing, which would open the path for the British to get the T14 as well.

the mk3 Especially belongs at 8.3, Nothing about that Vehicle is viable at 8.7.
It was barely playable at 8.3 even.
its just too god damn slow. and the armor isn’t even good, alot of soviet things can pen its turret front with APHE.
That just isn’t true man, there is no 7.3 in the game that deserves to see a chieftain firing 120mm apds.
As well as the reload, I’ve only ever used it st 8.7 and done extremely well with it.
No, they cant… find me an aphe that can go through the turret front of a chieftain, hell i actually love using the chieftains when people are sligning aphe cuase majority of the time it just bounces off the turret.
Also the hull armours buff bug report was accepted so they should also get a more effective hull…eventually…
Regardless, were still missing even chieftain mk5/4, and a plethora of other variants which would be nice to see.

Whilst there may not be 7.3s in game that deserve to see a chieftain, there are certainly some I would like to smite with a chieftain.
Though if discussing chieftain, only one I’d really change is the Mk 10 to 8.7. Not because it would be balanced, but because I would like an entire chieftain line up. Though same could be said for moving chieftains down to have them with the warrior. But that’s not too balanced.
Realistically the chieftain mk5 and 10 should both get the L15A5 round. However the L15A5 should have improved tungsten in it to allow higher penetration values, for example, as per the tank chat, the chieftain could penetrate the T64 UFP at 2000 meters, that is without L23 (which didnt exist) the L23A1 is the same round. which went into service after it was discovered cheiftain could take out the T64A at 2000 meters.
So realistically the cheiftain mk5 could get its LRF, correct L15A5 round and be a 9.0. and the mk10 could get the L15A5 and lose L23 and stay 9.0 with it.
we also are due armour upgrades and engine changes for cheiftains.
Mk3 cheiftains actually pretty potent sure it goes 43 kmph but its still got a lethal round, respectable armour and a good turret and decent reload speed, seeing as its what expert crew 8 odd seconds for a 120mm gun that one taps literally everything at its BR and to 9.7

Suppose it’s an option. Just loathe putting the 8.7s into a 9.0 line on account of the uptiers being incredibly rough.
Should try putting 9.3s in a 10.0 fkin lineup, constant 11.0 games with 9.3s just does not make sense

AMX 40 might be getting more armour soon, that’s it been missing for a short eternity. So we can expect it at the same time the chieftain gets more armour.
It still wont change the fact that the AMX 40 sits alone at 10.0 with the next best tank being 9.3 which is 2 BR steps below it :(
