Its not a hydraulic pump, its an Auxiliary Power Unit, the tooltip is wrong
The T-90M hydraulic pumps (edit - actually, electric, not hydraulic, motor for the horizontal drive) are attached to the left side of the turret ring, next to the gunner. Part of the turret ring hitbox, so destroying the pump destroys the turret drive
So, why doesn’t the development team add a real electric/hydraulic pump module for the T-90M, just like the one on the Leopard? Instead, they chose to spend effort adding a backup power source that has no effect.
They are there, attached to the turret ring and elevation drive
That’s where they are on T-72/80/90 style tanks, not back in the hull or turret like the Leo’s and M1’s
Cause the electrical connection between turret and hull isn’t modeled on any other tank.
Then these parts ought to be separated and given distinct names. Alternatively, the developers should add new, equivalent components like battery packs. The current “refined” mechanics are barely different from the previous ones.
It makes no practical difference
Battery packs are being added, but not for any MBT’s yet
The equivalent component is the motor drive, attached to the turret ring, powered by the engine’s electrical supply
Chances are, they want to add APU mechanics in the future
