T58 Is Broken Beyond Fix – Ludicrous Reload, Brutal Aftereffect, Even Top-Tier Worthy

I’ve only seen a few, but I died to one for the first time today because I skill issued two shots against it and then got obliterated because I happened to be in a light tank. But I haven’t really had any issues with this tank especially when I’m using more armored vehicles.

Likewise, I’ve meanwhile killed a few…with a Pakwagen.

After seval days thinking, T-55 gets better APFSDS, 3BM25 is not enough to damage T58, maybe is the better way to nerf BR or nerf the reload?

I have killed T72As in it no problem.

In the hands of someone who has the slightest idea of what they are doing it is an absurd nightmare.

Original post Is the T58 and Turm III a little too strong at 8.3 and 8.7

Okay, so, I’ve noticed that people are talking about the Japanese Ho-Ri how it is too low, it’s reaload is too quick, how it shouldn’t even exist cuz it’s not historical, it’s all made up, etc. Yet I don’t see almost anyone talking about how ridiculous and unrealistic is the HESH round on T58. Let me clarify. The HESH shell from what I know was developed in Britain to be used against heavy armor/fortifications without making “a hole” / penetration. It was supposed to “splash” and explode on the surface making the other side shatter into shrapnels. I’m not saying this is the 100% accuracy of how it was designed, developed and used, but pure basics and if I’m wrong, feel free to correct me. From what I can find on the internet as a casual user with enthusiasm for history, it struggled agains side skirts, when the round didn’t do almost anything. So, according to this I’m asking, how come the T58 HESH shell in game 1 shots everything with almost 100% consistency when shot into the tracks? I’m personally playing heavy vehicles like Obj 279 and so on, and I don’t think it should destroy a tank designed to withstand a nuclear blast when shot into the tracks with 2.6 sec. reaload. I know Gaijin balances tanks/planes based on players stats, but this is nonsense.

its not just t58, many tanks have the same problem but what makes the t58 stand out is its autoloader

Exactly. My point wasn’t to only crap about the T58. Sure it’s autoloader makes it even more insane and the fact that it is a premium when on sale costs about 25€, there are loads of them, abusing this mechanic. Still, this HESH shell problem applies to every other tank having higher caliber HESH, but really 8.7 is unplayable for this reason. As I mentioned, I play the Object 279 alot because it fits my playstile the best. I’m not trying to “cry about” OP tank when I alone play an “OP tank” (debatable because nowdays it’s really “struggling” at 9.0), but when I play Germany, USSR or Sweden in this BR range, I allways get rushed by a T58 shooting me into my track instantly killing me, 1% of cases it disables me and after 2.6 seconds I’m dead. This is just ridiculos

In my experience, the T58 HESH is about as inconsistent as the FV4005 HESH, but it gets the benefit of being able to reload in <3 seconds, so it’s not a big deal when it does nothing compared to the FV4005 where you have a 30 second reload. And that alone is what makes it so powerful. If it had a really long reload like the FV4005 it would also be kinda mid. And the T58 can overpressure vehicles on a track hit because its shell has so much explosive filler it acts like a small bomb. Not saying it’s realistic or balanced, that’s just how WT models it. And the T58 isn’t even the only vehicle that can do it, the M60 and Centurion premiums with giant HESH cannons can do it too. But those also get long reloads.

I loved the T58, even before it got added, i agree with you about it being premium, it shouldn’t because its an OP tank. OP tanks should not be premium. (BMPT-72)

I get your point that it has too much explosive filler that it can overpressure, but me in Obj 279 when I’m hit by howitzers built purely about ovp into my track, 70% of the times it does nothing, 30% of the cases it just disables my tracks/barrel. Yet T58/other tanks with HESH kills me instantly. If not, I’m atleast able to somewhat repair, but with the T58 I can’t even see/realize what’s happening before another shell just finishes me. If not? <3 seconds for another one. 8.7 is unplayable

I mean I don’t mind it being premium. More players get to reasearch/fill it’s lineup. But, when there are more than dozens cases of tanks being nerfed even if it isn’t historical like f.e T-29 with its reaload, why does it take this long to even try to do anything? Ballance changes for august already came, Tiger II P went down again when there was really no reason besides german main being crap with it, yet this stays untoched.

It’s premium bias. Gaijin is making a ton of money off these things rn and they don’t want to nerf it yet, or else people will stop buying it as much. Same thing happened with the SU-30MKK and SU-30MK2 premiums. They are OP so people are buying it a ton, so Gaijin doesn’t want to move them up yet.

I mean, this is dabatable. The new premium plane, idk it’s exact name, J-22? I myself bought it for 60€ just to have somewhat capable plane (I don’t play tech tree planes and I’m researching it only through ground RB) in 10.3 BR. It’s missiles are slow as hell, easiest ones to intercept, the only plus it had was you could fire them from 20km. There were also loads of them and now, after a few weeks, it’s 10.7. So, my point is, people are just too quiet about the T58 being this OP, when J-22 was moved up really quickly

  • the WT YouTubers made the J-22 seem like “really broken OP plane” cherry picking only the good games when in reality if there is bad weather, you simply can’t get more than 1 kills, mostly none kills because of free AA for everyone. Yet nobody talked like this with the T58, called it “strange” and when they did good even in top tier, didn’t say much about it being just, unfair

yea its underperforming.

yes, HESH under ideal circumstances would cause the inside of armour to act like a claymore and throw off a massive disc/scab of armour as well as that brutalising whatever is on the other side.

the game only does some of the shrapnel, not the scab.

shooting tracks for an automatic overpressure is silly but also not the furthest from reality (for big HESH shot)

the T58s hesh is also just as consistently inconsistent as any other HESH shells are, and missing a lot off of the the thickness of armour it can overmatch (the 76mm HESH from a FV101 scimitar itself could cause a notable scab through 110mm of armour, not far off what the 105mm is doing in game). The T58 just has a reload so fast that all of the issues with HESH get compensated for unlike any other HESH slugger in game.

If HESH was accurate you would see HESH a lot more in battles, and it would force most HESH primary vehicles much higher in BR

It’s actually slower than it should be.
The gun has a loading assistant which automatically aligns the shell with the breach and all the loader has to do is push it in, making the first follow-up shot very quick (see delat torn)

The problem lies somewhere around the way HESH works in-game, which is frankly still a mystery in terms of how it consistently overpressures through track shots yet inconsistently overpressures on areas where HE would overpressure.

I do agree it is. When shot at actual thick and strong armor as it was designed, most of the times if fails/doesn’t do as much damage as it should.

Yes I get it isn’t like “shooting tracks wont disable you”, ofc it should. These images proove it. But the constant ovp of tanks even if designed to withstand litterall nuclear blasts is like you said, silly. It just needs a nerf/rework of the mechanics how it works, because it oneshots into tracks most of the times, when used as it was intended it does almost anything.

I strongly agree on this. Atleast this is the “problem” for me. Inconsitent, yet crazy reaload to make it “consistent”. But still, it should be this broken as it currently is.

And I do want to see it. See people actually use other rounds, make it consistent for every tank that has the ability to use it.
