Straight to the point, this really has no business being 11.3, I was skeptical that it’d be that strong but holy cow this is stupid. Relict has no place under 11.7 and this vehicle and the BMPT make a fantastic case for that sentiment. The amount of spalling that just evaporates from side on shots that would’ve killed me in the T-90 is unbelievable.
100% should hotfix nerf this back to 11.7, the combination of its fantastic armor, reaction speed, and lethal ammo are flat out overwhelming vs Leopard 2A4’s and M1 abrams (105)
typical gaijin move
I’m guessing gaijin decided to implement this based on global statistics of the t72b3, which I’m guessing aren’t all too good since many people play it in 12.7 and stock grind is genuine suffering. I haven’t checked its stats but that’s my current theory
Very possible, not to mention with the buffs the T-80’s received I thought it felt odd they were both the same BR. Turns out reload rate and reverse speed isn’t always everything.
They’re just most of everything. Gun depression being the other main factor
???
Its literally worse than basic m1a1
They just raised the BR of their new moneybag sellout vehicle so gotta bring more vehicles to its lineup br
Yeah-Yeah Relict

If you can read, you will be able to see which Relict are located only on the side of the tank.
11.3 is the appropriate BR for it.
It’s been over-tiered for years now, finally it’s no longer the same BR as the superior T-80U or M1A1 Abrams.
Niche side armour is not a valid reason for keeping the vehicle over-tiered, especially because everything else about it is already lackluster.
BMPT has spall liners, smaller ammo racks and one of the two BMPT’s gets 5 crew members instead of 3.
Acting like their survivability is anywhere near equal is simply nonsensical.
Armour isn’t anything special. T-80UD, T-72B '89, T-90A, T-72B3 Arena, there’s plenty of MBT’s with similar armour layouts at or below the T-72B3’s BR.
Reaction speed is merely on-par with the M1 Abrams and Leopard 2A4, and both of those are at lower BR’s so that’s clearly not a valid reason to have it stay at 11.7.
Ammunition isn’t a valid argument either given that the IPM1 has M900 at the same BR with a massively faster rate of fire.
It’s still nearly a full BR above the M1 and Leopard 2A4, it’s not like it’s being lowered to 10.7.
It’s kinda iffy properly balancing it because it has features of top tier MBT’s while having issues that plague T-72’s all the way down at 10.3. It’s not on par with the BMPT I’ll admit that but it really doesn’t feel balanced down at 11.3, the niche side armor stops being niche in downtiers vs vehicles with just over 400mm of pen. Sure it’s not the most competitive vehicle at 11.7 but I think it’s healthier for the game to have a vehicle underperform vs very obviously overperforming, I have it and I can have a good time with it but if I’d rather the game be in a better state, the BMPT is already ruining the bracket (I see 5+ of them a game) it doesn’t need to be worse.
It’s an issue of BR compression. It was mediocre at 11.7 compared to the competition so it couldn’t stay there.
Kpz-70 has features of top tier MBT’s, that doesn’t mean it should be 11.7.
I don’t see how it will be overly strong at 11.3.
You haven’t really explained how it’s problematic at 11.7.
You stated it’s similarity to the BMPT in terms of survivability to side shots is what should keep it at 11.7, but I already debunked that by explaining how the BMPT’s survivability is significantly better than the T-72B3’s, it’s not a valid comparison.
Aside from that, the T-72B3 has lackluster mobility, decent gun handling (but not exceptional for the BR), average firepower and decent but not outstanding armour.
I don’t see how vehicles would be fine with facing a T-90A but somehow struggle massively against a T-72B3.
with relikt

without relikt

as you can see here it barely even provides extra 80mm of kinetic protection, how is it really strong?
round used: 3BM60
Very obviously not what I meant, this has Russia’s top dart, top tier responsiveness, and side ERA found on the BVM.
Well yeah it wasn’t problematic at 11.7, it wasn’t the best but it was balanced, Statshark had it sitting at a 49.8% wr with almost 30 million games played which is objectively balanced. The mobility of it is totally fine with the exception of it’s reverse gear, and it’s 24 hp/t is literally the median of all 11.7 tech tree MBT’s (24.4).
The reason DM23 struggles vs the B3 side but not the T-90A isn’t because it can’t pen, but because the extra relict covering the majority of the side actively reduces damage done to it. APFSDS damage works off of extra pen after entering the vehicle, this results in shots that would otherwise cripple or kill doing substantially less. Gaijin already understands center mass shots not doing enough damage is a problem hence why they gave vehicles massive turret baskets and autoloaders to disable.
You’re showing the wrong relict value, either intentionally or accidentally but it’s not 20mm, it’s 220mm total
M60 120S has a top-tier dart, that doesn’t make it 11.7.
M1 Abrams has top-tier responsiveness, that doesn’t make it 11.7.
T-80BVM has substantially better acceleration, top speed, reverse speed, reload rate, etc.
Winrate in isolation is not a good metric to judge a vehicle’s balance.
US M1’s are on poor winrates, yet they’re already undertiered as it stands, meanwhile the Chinese Abrams is on one of the best winrates.
Context matters.
It’s the definition of mediocre.
Hp/t ratio is not a good way to measure mobility, because the way a vehicle’s gears are modeled is more impactful on the overall mobility.
They are still strengthening Russia to sell BMPT, even though the Russian team is so crowded that people can’t join the game.
My point stands, it was an overall average vehicle that was perfectly fine at 11.7 now under tiered and quite strong, this level of side protection just doesn’t belong at 11.3. Alas we’re probably just not going to agree
So what? Relikt is still only on the sides, it’s not like on the T-90M. Or are you having trouble penetrating a Kontakt V
