I mean well, technically it’s a Soviet tank, it also ended up back into a Soviet garage in the end XD
With the modification to 88mm or reverted back to 85mm? for the main reason of the conversion, ammunition supply
No, the T-34-88 itself was listed in a regiments inventory, that happened sometime after, this happened sometime in 1946 iirc so reverting it to a standardized caliber makes sense. I actually need to add to the post, thanks for reminding me.
Soviet ‘captured’ tanks are premium in german tech tree
If the T-34-88 was to come to WT it should only be in the german tree. its rather nonsensical with historical context to also have it in the USSR tree
I honestly do not think this vehicle should be featued in the soviet tech-tree.
The vehicle was originally a T-34-85, then captured by the germans and modified so it can be serviced and deployed by them - by modifying the gun in a way that allowed it to use the german 88mm shells.
Only after the german division in latvia surrendered did the soviets get their hands on this modified vehicle and (as far as I can tell from the other post) it did not see active combat against germany afterwards.
This is, in my opinion, on par with saying that every vehicle germany had left at the end of ww2 should go to the USA, Britain, France, etc. because they owned all of them after germany surrendered and in many cases, brought them to their home-countries for testing and evaluation - which often lasted longer than their service with the german army aswell.
If the soviets had modified this vehicle further afterwards (e.g. by let’s say: refitting it with a new engine, or weapon-drives or even optics) then I could see this later modification also being a reasonable addition to the soviet tech-tree as well.
However, this does not appear to be the case and as such, this very unique modification of a T-34-85 should only be added to the german tech tree - as it was germany whom modified the gun to use their own shells (a.o.) and thereby created this unique version of a vehicle.
How? They both serviced it XD
+1 as long as both Germany and Russia get it. Maybe they could have an event where when you complete it, it can be unlocked in both the Soviet and German trees since both Germany and Russia have used this vehicle
Not a bad idea, I find it funny World of Tanks has this mirrored pretty well since you are able to train both German and Soviet crews on that one.
I didn’t even know world of tanks did that. That’s actually a pretty cool feature!
Yes, it’s listed under the USSR but can also train the German crews.

I’ll be charitable. Since every nation needs to get their cookie, we might as well give the Soviets one of their own domestic T-34-85 variants around the same time the Germans get the T-34-88 so that everyone is happy.
T-34-85M could be a solid pick.
I feel it’s better off as a German exclusive vehicle. However so long as Germany gets their own, I have no problem with the USSR getting ones as well. +1 for the vehicle itself to come to the game, but preferably for Germany.
i see no problem with it +1 just make sure it gets added to both trees like the PAK-AMD thing and everyone’s happy adds a relatively unique T34 to both German and Russian trees
Should be in the German TT
im pretty sure theres a newer one than that like 1969
also i feel china should get there heavy mod version of the T34 with Laser range finder and APDFS

There’s a few vehicles to pick from. I was trying to keep the era consistent with the T-34-88, and avoid pay-walling mass-produced, post-war variants that would be better suited as researchable vehicles.
They added some French thing awhile back that was captured and modified by the Germans then re-captured by the Free French and it went into both the French and German trees, so it’s not like they haven’t done it before.
Spoiler

Will firing the Pzgr. 39 result in excessive chamber pressure leading to a catastrophic failure?
One issue with that one.
The Devblog was for france only. German mains cried so loudly that france was getting a unique vehicle that gaijin bent the knee and put it in their tree too
The blog is ironically called “no, give it back” emphasising that its meant to represent the french recapture, as thats where the vehicle is best known.

T-34-88 now that its proven to be real is ONLY known for its insane modification to accept 88mm flak shells in german service. Its a disservice to its service history and its unique german flavouring
Im not a fan of vehicles whose fame is with X getting put into Y too because they demanded an equal attention cake
