Hi
To answer your question, you should first know that the radar is rather poorly modeled. The Anemone’s main role is ship detection/track to allow the Super Etendard to use its Exocet missile (unfortunately absent from the game). Currently, the main operating mode allows to detect and track naval targets and, as you said, planes taking off (for a reason that escapes me), the only air-to-air operating mode modeled is the ACM which works correctly. These two modes correspond to radar modes to which the aircraft had access IRL.
As indicated in the bug report below, the radar currently lacks a TWS mode for naval targets and a search mode for aerial targets. These modes are those for which sources have been found and which could be added in game (the bug report was accepted then put back on hold 1 year ago so we unfortunately have to wait). According to some other sources the radar should also have a TWS mode for aerial targets but none of these sources are reliable
Yeah, looked at the datamine and that change will do practically nothing (a slightly wider or taller ACM box with slightly longer range, which already is very long for the BR).
There are only 3 signals: surfaceSearch, surfaceTrack, and track. So it seems the two search mode are for air to ground, while ACM for air to air. Weird that there is no indication in the name of the modes or in X-Ray that the search modes are for surface targets.
Actually, I don’t quite remember if they were planes, but there were not at the airfield. Could have been a tank column or something. But I have also sometimes been able to detect and track flying air targets in the test flight and in the game. For reference, search mode has both tanks and ships set as possible targets, but not aircraft:
Also, shouldn’t it get gun/rocket/bomb CCIP? I would expect it to have that, considering it is a relatively modern aircraft, but I don’t really know anything about.
The aircraft currently has access to the CIP for rockets and bombs + the CCRP for bombs. To my knowledge and according to the information that has been found, the gun does not have access to the CCIP
Oops, you are right, it does get it for bombs (maybe rockets too, haven’t unlocked yet).
They are on the Pantsir and Tor, although with crutches, like disregarding the time-energy relationship for search. Forgot the actual term, but radars require time to emit the radiation towards a target to detect it, even if they are ESA, which slows down search time. The S1, for example, scans the 90^\circ\times 90^\circ window with its tracking radar in a fraction of a second. There are, however, other features S1’s radar lacks.
They are adding a PESA radar with the Su-34 next patch, but so far it did not have any of the PESA specific features the S1 and Tor have, like revisiting a spotted target in TWS multiple times a second, while also searching a different portion of the sky. It could be that it is PESA only in name, for now. If not, I hope the Super Etendard also gets its PESA (doubt it, TBH).
The search mode of the Anemone currently locates SAM and SPAA at airfields, and some other AI vehicles. They can’t locate player vehicles however, for some reason
I’d save those for something like a SEM 4/5 ( that one existed right? )
If added it’d be something like 11.3/11.7 in air with Magik 2s, Damocles and that specific loadout. And it’d still be way better than even stuff like a Jag IS and alike.
But that’s just my opinion, we first need to focus on the problems with the current SE ( buff the AS30s)
The SEM in game is already an “equivalent” to the std 4/5 for its RWR system and the double GBU12 carriage. So there is no reason why it could not have in play the addition of the carriage of additional GBU 12 in external point as we can see on the photos taken at the time of the Libya war in 2011.
