Yeah, unfortunate that there isn’t a f-22 mlu or something. I think su57m and j-20a/j-35a would be great competitors
Although j-20 gets an actual usable amount of cms with 108, and 70 on the f-22 while su-57 gets only 42.
At least all that 42 cms can be allocated to chaff because it gets ldircm

we’re entering futuristic video game designs territory

There is

Just bc the US dosent call their f22 upgrade like that, dosent mean that it was never upgraded

2026 USAF budget lists a lot of the upgrades

F-22 with IRDS, AIM-260, Scorpion HMD, and stealth tanks/IRST pod is pretty much F-22 MLU

Eh armament upgrades ain’t really all that, I was thinking more of gaining newer systems like the su-57m and j-20a are getting
Gaining hmd is certainly huge though

What’s that

well HMD and IRDS (replaces the F-22’s old MAWS sensors with TacIRST sensors, will probably give it F-35 DAS style capabilities) are new systems

Imo shouldve just had eots like system from the start like f-35 or j20a/su-57 etc

i dont think they were there yet in the early 90’s. well they did have plans for an internal IRST and even plans for a SLAR, but they were too costly and they wanted to get the Raptor operational quickly

at least Russian irst already had combined tv/laser guidance for their irst in the 90s. Maybe the 14d one can do that? Although it’s irst has a separate camera and irst though

Surprising considering the Soviet Union fell

thats part of it, they were already behind schedule and the justification for SLAR and IRST had collapsed

Su-57m might also get the tested new maws sensors from one of the t-50 prototypes, which might be used for 360 vision like the f-35 as they’re regular ir cameras instead of uv cameras. Does the f-22 get any sort of see through vision like the f-35?

no

Does f-22 get 360 rwr/maws? Like rafale?
Ik su-57 gets at least 360 maws, almost certainly the rwr is also 360 but have to double check that

Well you can probably say that izd 180 missiles are certainly in service now that they’ve been seen a billion times on the 35

Also I just finished reading Butowski’s book, it was good and found couple of important info which ill mention later, but one thing caught my eye a lot.

The book mentions “Programmable ECM transmitter” in a form of normal countermeasure cartridge round in the Su-57 CM dispensers, So it says it quite literally has dispensable Jammer decoys, just not towed.

This is similar to AN/ALQ-260 Brite-cloud, Essentially replacing chaff with these jammers.

The book mentions the UV-50-01 system has 8 - 10 of variety of cartridges, my bet would be other than usual flares/chaff, it has other cartridges as these programmable ECM transmitters but for different bands, However, i have never seen such cartridges presented in real life, so probably we gotta wait till they make it public (or maybe they never will), but if they come, this and the BriteCloud will make top tier not only some bvr oriented game but also allow jets to pierce through the NEZ of each others missiles with appropriate tactics.

F35 gets 120cm afaik, j20 has somewhere between 100-200

the white stuff within the engine, i am not aware what exactly that is, probably oxidized inner nozzles?

It came a bit sooner than i expected, but i am waiting for more info like range and seeker, and things like its motor performance and is it smokeless or not.

Yeah when I went through it I mostly skimmed and just looked for juicy bits lol.
Glad it to hear it was a good read, working to find more books on the su-57, but ofc it’s hard to find good ones by actual reputable authors.
