Indonesia’s purchase of the Su-35 will continue. If you ask “why?” and “what is the reason?” then this is it.
1.Indonesia-Russia reciprocal purchase scheme, both countries will benefit equally
The Indonesian government purchased the SU-35 from Russia, and Russia, as the selling country, is obligated to purchase a number of Indonesian export commodities. Under this counter-purchase scheme, Indonesia receives a potential export share of 50% of the SU-35 purchase value. “The percentages in the SU-35 procurement are 35% in the form of offsets and 50% in the form of counter-purchases. Thus, Indonesia receives an export value of USD 570 million from the USD 1.14 billion SU-35 procurement,” explained the Trade Minister.
2.In 2018, Indonesia had already signed a contract for the Su-35 and was just waiting for the aircraft to arrived.
Indonesia has signed a contract with Russia to purchase 11 Sukhoi SU-35 fighter jets. The signing took place on Wednesday (February 14th) in Jakarta.
“It was February 14th,” said Brigadier General Totok Sugiarto, Head of the Ministry of Defense’s Public Communications Center, in a text message to CNNIndonesia.com on Friday (February 16th). The contract was signed by Rear Admiral Agus Setiadji, Head of the Defense Facilities Agency (Kabaranahan) of the Ministry of Defense, with Yuri, a delegate from Rostec. Totok confirmed that the purchase of the 11 Sukhoi aircraft is complete with weaponry according to the Indonesian Air Force’s needs. “Full combat capability,” he said. Following the contract signing, Indonesia now simply awaits the Sukhoi’s manufacturing process before delivery,The first phase will see the delivery of two units in August 2019, with the contract effective as of August 2018. The second phase will see the delivery of six units 18 months after the contract becomes effective. The remaining three units will be delivered 23 months after the contract is effective. The total procurement price for the 11 Sukhoi SU-35s, complete with weapons and armaments, is US$1.14 billion, under a counter-purchase system.

3.The purchase of the Su-35 is strongly supported by the Indonesian parliament (Flashback to when the Indonesian defense minister at that time planned to buy Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 1 used by the Austrian Air Force, this purchase was quite controversial and was cancelled later)
Member of Commission I of the House of Representatives, Tubagus Hasanuddin, said that if the information about the Minister of Defense’s letter was true, the Ministry of Defense must stop the plan to purchase the used aircraft. Tubagus refers to Law Number 16 of 2012 concerning the Defense Industry. The law stipulates the need for clauses on technology transfer, offsets, and countertrade. These provisions would be difficult to achieve if Indonesia purchased used weapons. “The DPR and the government have committed that we will no longer purchase used aircraft,” said Hasanuddin. Other considerations, if buying a used plane, said Hasanuddin, are the years of service, spare parts and maintenance. He said that currently the fighter jet procurement programs that have been approved by the DPR are the procurement of the Sukhoi-35 and cooperation with South Korea to produce the fourth-generation KFX fighter jet

Eternally delayed XD
Deeply Uncertain and volatile acquisition
Just another India situation
Would be a better option to acquire more Rafales from the 2022 deal. But who knows.
For Egypt its the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act-Related Sanctions by USA which stopped them from buying them. Egypt has been forced to import wheat due to agriculture issues and if they where to buy the Su35 they would not be able to buy wheat though the open market.
Don’t know if Iran has got there Su planes yet some reports say they got 5 but there deep in the mountain for very understandable reasons (likely still there as the tomcats survived) but there pilots have not been trained yet. Russian Su planes are ideal for large countries like Iran and China because of the patrol distances it provides. Even if your friendly to the USA American aircraft that you can buy tend to have the issue of long range this is one issue Canada has as non of the Aircraft we can buy fully work for us. There is a joke among many Canadian pilots that the ideal plane to defend Canada from Russia is a Su30. Western planes really lean on areal tankers which is not ideal especially if these tankers may be shot down or have way to many airbases.
Maybe
mid 2010’s pre R-74M, R-77M and R-37M service
I’m not sure battle rating (Air battle mode) around 14.0 or 14.3 (early service in mid 2010’s era)
14.7
it would be the exact same loadout and avionics as the Su-30SM2
so why would it be at a lower br
Su-30SM2 from russian tech tree maybe current production service
R-27ER/R-27ET replace with R-37M, missing R-74M and R-77M
If someone gajin increase maximum battle rating (Air battle mode) to 15.3 or 15.7 for Su-30SM2
I’m not sure around 14.3 or 14.7
Su-35S early (2015 service) retain Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground armaments from Su-30SM
show me then where it has the R-37M ingame
which is still the exact same as the Su-30SM2 currently ingame
even a early Su-35S will be 14.7
Making an “Early” and “Late” Su-35S doesn’t really work… especially since it’d be almost exclusively limiting weaponry.
Yep, in contrast do you know what would really work? Dynamic battle ratings based on installed modifications
I was gonna say Su-35-1 and Su-35S but that would work as well I suppose…
It increases options while preventing some copypaste, but that won’t happen because if it’s neither grinded nor paid, it doesn’t bring money
So yeah if anything they’ll add a special variant like you said (and make it $100 premium)
Nice picture showing a very diverse loadout in real use, 2 x R77-1, 2 x R73 of some kind, 1 x R37M, 1 Kh31
is there any photo of su-35s carrying the R-77M?
In the spoiler
They finally decided to remove the air brakes they had on the other R77
Most likely at the cost of good maneuverability though.
I’m not sure the official performance stats have been released yet, since the missile was seen for the first time roughly one year ago, but going by missile design, I think it will be in the same boat that amraams are in right now.
As i remember double pylons were seen on export showcase.
Same for J10C. Idk where but 1 double pylons were seen on F2000, so they decided gave it to all F2000.
Never saw any double pylons for F15C GE.
Btw EF AESA which inst even in service, gets double pylons, and gets spice 250, while those bombs probably never been on German, UK, Italian soil.
So dont worry about Russian double pylons. If R771 can be attached, then R77M for sure.
