Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

@MiG_23M @terminaruse

An example of how much fuel is included for normal takeoff weight from the Sukhoi website (Su-27SK)

5270 / 9400 ~= 0.56

Su-27UBK’s listing uses the same fuel fraction as well.

Su-30MK’s listing uses the same 5270kg fuel amount, despite higher capacity.

5270 / 9640 ~= 0.547

Giving me inspiration to start nerfing my favorite plans asap too. It’s inspiring for people to show that they want their favorite vehicles to be accurate.

@sudo_su1 Since you’re doing those reports for the Su-27 family of aircraft, what do you think about the potential of adding S-8PM chaffs for them?

Well, I had no idea those existed before you mentioned them

One could do a report, but as with all armaments, at best they are gonna be forwarded as a suggestion …

And I think they will be quite difficult to use …

They are basically forward launching chaffs for B-8 rocket tubes. Nothing special but it can be pretty useful. They should be launched in game with same button like other countermeasures (not button for rockets).

That might not be realistic … And I bet Gaijin would require a source for it …

You’re right. A button for firing unguided rockets would be more realistic for that chaff variant. Btw there was some info about S-8PM on old ROE website.

Could u explain how it works? Is it basically just S8 but with chaff warhead? Or is there more to it than that.

Its S-8 with chaff warhead.

But wouldn’t that mean the plane will fly through the chaff? Or does it have some other design?

wasnt it 1.5?

Probably it will if you wont turn. But hard to say. There is not much information about that.

I think the 1.5 multiplier is for max G load

i also heard that there are chaff rounds for the gsh-30

I found some additional info:
http://www.aveaprom.ru/oruzie-nurs-s8.php

Hmm interesting. I knew already for 23mm cannon (also flares) for bombers but GSh-30 is new for me.

Right, so with that amount of fuel in mind it is this empty weight;

25,300kg loaded
2x R-77 (175kg x 2 = 350kg)
2x R-73 (105kg x 2 = 210kg)
25,300 - 350 - 210 - 5,270kg fuel

19,470 kg with ammo, pilot, oils, hydraulic fluid, etc.

I think 19 tons is still the valid answer.

Irkutsk plant has begun installing AL-41F engine on Su-30SM
hope gaijin will add al41 for 30sm :l

IIRC in original TASS article it was said about Su-30SM2, even if it was named in later part of the interview
