Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

Community Bug Reporting System just noticed sudo’s report on su-34 max speed was accepted. I’m excited to see what will be the dev’s final position

The quad packs are designed to launch AMRAAM’s offensively, not just carry them. That’s what cargo aircraft are for.

The quad pack was first designed in an effort to sell F-15’s in ~2016 through an upgrade known as the “Eagle 2040C”.

Me when I shoot off 6 of the longest range missiles in game at a single player. (None of them hit. This process will repeat tenfold)

I’m kinda waiting for the devs to respond: “Nah”

Also not sure what’s going on with these:

LOL

Relying on “estimations” over primary sources

And not taking into account that the FP variant could have more advanced and more expensive weight reduction techniques applied to its design and construction to compensate for the longer length and additional thrust vectoring stuff.

For a 4-channel PESA I wouldn’t be surprised if it could guide 4, but it’s more than likely some nuance I don’t know about

Max speed is 1350 on the deck, 1530 is nothing but its structural limit at 0m.

Was this a tech mod response or dev response, I’m curious

I would imagine a dev

1530 is its speed on the deck in the game.

1350 is the max speed according to manufacturer. It well could be structural limit, but it’s not clear. I left it to Gaijin to interpret.

If it’s structural limit then its Vne has to be reduced from 1540 to 1.1 * 1350 = 1485.

1.05 is the multiplier used to my understanding.

Flankers use 1.1

Su-27SK manual specifies 1400 on the deck, in the game it has 1540 Vne

real russia bias

Anything to show that developers purposely use 1.1 multiplier? Maybe like a dev response?

Are you sure that the multiplier is 1.05 for other planes?
IDK, maybe make a report and let’s see what they say.

https://archive.org/details/su-27-sk-aircraft-flight-operations-manual-book-1/page/n13/mode/2up

The multiplier of 1.05 is universal across all planes. It’s possible no one reported the Su-27SK’s topspeed just like the other sukhois and thus the current topspeed.

@MiG_23M @terminaruse

An example of how much fuel is included for normal takeoff weight from the Sukhoi website (Su-27SK)

5270 / 9400 ~= 0.56

Su-27UBK’s listing uses the same fuel fraction as well.

Su-30MK’s listing uses the same 5270kg fuel amount, despite higher capacity.

5270 / 9640 ~= 0.547

Giving me inspiration to start nerfing my favorite plans asap too. It’s inspiring for people to show that they want their favorite vehicles to be accurate.

@sudo_su1 Since you’re doing those reports for the Su-27 family of aircraft, what do you think about the potential of adding S-8PM chaffs for them?
