does Russia use the normal R-77 in any meaningful numbers? i remember reading they never adopted in any large numbers and i have this one photo of an Su-27SM armed with either an R-77 or R-77-1 from post 2022 (Photo quality to low to ID which one it is)
Nope, R-77 production was based in Ukraine by most part. Russia produces only R-77-1 for domestic use and only RVV-AE for export (if it is even produced nowadays)
looks like a normal Su-27SM judging by the lack of the extra antenna between the canopy and air brake found on the SM3, and its not an Su-35S since it has the older vertical stabilizers and pitot tube on the radome

Well, you asked about meaningfull numbers, aren’t you? There is a probability that some of the remaining 27SMs are armed with lefrover R-77s, but those aren’t gonna last forever, missiles have rather limited life when installed on pylons
unless the explosive and rocket equipment are replaced by the 77-1 one who would be still make them good to use
i guess yeah that there is some have possibly have some remaining post 2022
would that really work tho?
for the battery ? sure
but for the the rocket and warhead, idk tbh.
I found the basis of all the Su-27 camos in game.

These are some big boys.

Only 77-1
Sometimes we forget just how gigantic these things are, it’s crazy
It makes the airshow presentations even more impressive.
Why doesnt Su30~ utilize the ‘double pylon’ under the fuselage on one of the wing pylons like how it is done on J-15T ? seems like one of the wing pylons has the space… was it like never considered and i need to patent this, or is there a more ‘technical’ limitation ?
Most likely never considered.
The Su-30MKI derivatives can carry up to 10 radar missiles anyway, which is more than enough for most missions.
God that br range is such a shithole with 1 trillion premiums, insane compression and abysmal balancing.
cool vid of su35 and Su27sm ( maybe sm3 ? ). the strange thing here is that the Su35 is being used as sead / intercept while the su27sm is used as a intercepter or back up to cover su35.
