probably bc the Su-35 sensor suit is better
so it can tell the 27SM where to look for an air target (maybe even DL it) while having better avionics for A2G as well

With Su-35 doing AWACS duty in Ukraine, i think it is more than capable of providing DL info to Su-27. And, it seems that it is not even Su-27SM, you can see SPO-15 compartments on the nacelles and antennas on the tail, as well as IRST pod being placed in the middle. This is one of the very few remaining Su-27Ps most likely.
With that in mind, no wonder that Su-35 is armed for SEAD, 27P can’t carry anything in terms of A2G (tho even if it was SM3 or SM, Su-35 just way better in that role.

I don’t think that it’s “giving life” probably just an airframe that is too old to be modernised into SM but not entirely dead to just send it to scrapyard. Probably will be retired once something new will be available from the UAC

I’m not entirely sure what kind of OLS is installed on the Su-30MKK (sources say different things).
I can’t find the OEPS name for the Su-30MKI, only the OLS name (and even then it’s called OLS-30 and OLS-30I).

This photo was posted before. It might be MAW, but it’s hard to say for sure, because there are no visible sensors for lower hemisphere and sides. You can compare with MAW layout of Su-35 or MiG-35

Anyone knows what stats Gaijin used for their N035 on SM2? 1kwt version from Su-30MKK or 5kwt from Su-35S?
I would assume 5kwt, since all the “info” Gaijin is using says that Su-30SM2 uses the Su-35S radar.

It is MAW and has sensors both behind and below the cockpit. You can see it on orange one.
Yeah, that’s the thing, Orange one for Algeria has it, but the photo of Russian one has only top compartment with something in it, nothing else.
