Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

it depends. early ones had al-31, later ones al-41. early ones also still had n011m.

That makes sense, thanks for the clarification!

Of course, but secondary sources are not very trustworthy either so when someone seems so sure about them being wrong, I’d rather make sure who’s right. But yeah I’ll never take one’s word without a proof

.

Edit; The video Военная приемка. СУ-30СМ2. Работа в зоне СВО. Minute 12 they talk about the engine.

Bit of a digression; but once the new update is dropped the R-27ER carriers will be buffed pretty significantly. 1500ms hard speed limit for missiles was fixed, so now R-27ER can and will reach speeds in excess of Mach 5 from a good launch. I’ll probably start the Su-34 grind then since the missiles will be especially spicy when people don’t expect their TTI to be shorter by a solid amount.

yeah only if you’re at like 10k altitude which is death sentence for su-34.

wait what? I haven’t seen any info on speed limits being fixed, can you lead me to the source?

So how do you guys feel about the buff?

After a few air RB matches on dev, I find the time to get to 1600/1700kmh better than before even with a full 14 missile loadout.

It also keeps speed better above 1000kmh, ofc the main issues of the flight model remain, but I feel like it’s a step forward at least.

Key problem is that 30SM doesn’t pull hard enough even tho it’s literally has canard, it has the same g pull at high speeds that F-15E has which is ridiculous, it should be able to pull at least 12G.

Dev server opening changelog, screenshot here.

anyone able to test this?

I’ll boot up a custom real quick

@NOR_Tissetassen

I’ll also try at higher alt than this

EDIT:

Higher alt

Oh, thank you, i must’ve missed that one in the clutter. I wonder if it was actually a bug and not engine limitation that they managed to re-work.

I also find the pull at high speeds to be quite low, I’m not even asking for it to pull 13 or 14 G’s, because it probably shouldn’t, but as of now it struggles to get past 10.

As for the thrust, the 1000 kgf total added can be felt quite nicely, so I have even more hopes for the AL-41’s, those should add up quite a bit of thrust to the numbers we have now.

So it generally pulls a bit harder now? That’s a welcome addition. Same as radar tweaks.

Looks like it, from the start of the dev server I felt like the jet could sustain high G’s for a longer time, thought it was the thrust helping a bit, but it was actually more than that haha.

Anyhow, welcome change indeed.

Can’t wait for US mains to demand F-15EX to compensate for this blatantly overpowered aircraft.

They probably overlooked this part of the datamines because the BUK got released :)

Jokes aside, actually if I remember reading correctly the Strike eagle got an increase to the high speed pull, so, not much to complain for them either haha.

Cheeky Gaijin as usual. But i think reality gonna hit F-15EX fanboys hard with 0.93 TWR (probably even less in full missile truck configuration). Anyways, only real complaint about Su-30SM now is severely underperforming IRST and wrong visual model. Hope Gaijin will hire some intern to work it out. I think even MiG-29SMT has better IRST now, not to mention stuff like PIRATE.
