Does the SM2 not lose the radome pitot tube when mounting the Irbis radar (like the Su-35), or is the Irbis not bring mounted (yet or at all)?
no it dosent
you can see that it is a SM2 due to the different antennas in the wings leading edge

Both planes already superior to Su30 in both ingame and real life, Su30Sm will still be worse even if it recieves AL-41 engines.
These planes sits at different leauge dude.
Hope they give it the AL41s it’s the weakest 14.3 atm of the 3

No, Su30Sm with AL-41 engines will be nice, SU35 should be added with EFT Tranche 4/5 and Rafale F4/5.

Su30sm with only the AL41 and non of the other upgrades will be yet another Frankenstein plane
If it receives the Al-41 it should also get a different RWR and a better radar
On top of that gaijin would need to make adjustments to the 3d model (even more so than they already have to)
Since radar and RWR is already pretty good i dont think they will change that.
It will either be thrust buff or AL-41 engine.
I hope they show this in the dev stream, even tho I think the BUK will have the spotlight (rightfully so)

I even discussed this months ago with someone, in which they would just bring a engine upgrade to the current 30SM and skip the 30SM2, similar to how it was done with 27SM. If the buff is giving it the 30SM2 engine then i think it would make sense.
I would agree with the statement that only giving 30SM AL-41F-1S engines is extremely bad decision. They were only placed on SM2 model (and not even every SM2 airframes recieved them, iirc first batches of SM2 were delivered with AL-31FP engines), and with SM2 should come new avionics and radar. Tho i wouldn’t mind SM2 being just a researchable module for SM that will give it aforementioned upgrades with R-37M module added later (if gaijin ever gonna add this Mach 6 doomrod into the game)
PS. Oh and not forgetting to mention that AL-41 have completely different TVC nozzles, not only fully 3D but with greater deflection angles as well.
Serial su-30 still isn’t equipped with AL-41 AFAIK
