How much do you guys think the empty weight of the Su-35 is going to be, are the devs gonna make it the 19t+ boat that some sources say or are they gonna pull some magical sources and tune it down a little?

should be 19000 kg imo, some people argue that’s with khibiny pods but idk man

who knows if this is with khbiny pods or not

Yeah I think I saw someone saying it takes into account the khibiny pods, but even if that was true, how much would it take off, 300/400 kgs?

i think it would be more like 500kg they look pretty big and heavy

this should be the transmitter:

First time seeing how they are made, gotta admit they do look like they’re heavy

but yeah, do not expect much from the su-35 in terms of weight, the chinese flankers will be much better in terms of that metric. for example, they reduced the weight of the su-33 by more than 1 ton, and the their j-16 is around 17500 to 18500 kg. and they got the j-11bg which got same thrust as su-35 while having the weight of a j-11b/27sm, around 16800 kgs

Yea that its with Khibiny pods. You can tell by the 25300 gross weight. Its the same in the old Knaapo brochure. Same value and that is how the 19000 tons its calculated. And even the Weight of the RAM. IF gaijin don’t give the Su-35s a frontal RCS that its less than of the Rafale (in Clean configuration). They should reduce the weight of the plane.

For what i have read that Pic its from a Chinese military fair. And its the export variant. And they said that the weight its around 200 to 250 kg. For each pod. So 500kg aprox.

Yea about that i have my doubts. While yea sure J-15 should be lighter than a Su-30sm. There is not way that even the Single-seat J-15 it Lighter than the Su-35s.

Same with J-16. Its a Two seater. That alone make it heavy. Also early J-16 (2014) variant didn’t even have RAM. While the Su-35s have. or At least that 25300 gross weight have it applied. Pic from old Knaapo brochure.
jeeeeeRAM

J-16 started to use RAM coating in 2018 or 2019. So the Empty weight going around for it. Don’t have RAM coating applied. Ram its suppose to be really heavy. So even if you applied in the frontal arc. Its weight should be around half tons or more. RAM its one of the reason “Small” jet like F-22 weight 19.7 tons. Or F-35 weight the same of a F-15. RAM its heavy AF.

Overall i feel like J-16 and Su-35s have about the same Empty weight. Maybe J-16 its a little lighter. Mostly because it use more modern Equipament. Like AESA radar… Heck Even the Computer on Su-35s were update on T-50/Su-57. And the newer one are like half the weight.

Su-35s its long overdue for an overhaul of it system. Sadly 8 month into 2025 and there is 0 news about an upgrade. And latest news its that It can use R–77M. Also no Su-35s in the next update.

They will add Su-35s with F-15ex, F-16V, Rafale F-5. Eurofighter Quadriga. Etc… An Almost 2005 jet vs 2025 jets… (well F-22 will be about the same).

why? it’s officially 17 500 kg

su -33 empty weight btw, closer to 1500 kg lighter

each pod is around 300-400 iirc so 600-800kgs totally.

the IRBIS is actually not that heavy compared to its predecessors

the antenna itself only weighs 60kg and the whole radar 480kg
but that weight could possibly be reduced with newer and lighter electronics, for the signal processing

seems like i guessed correctly

thanks,

what did you use to translate it?
the translators i used always failed epicly and i had to guess the translation from context clues

ChatGPT does a pretty good job these days. I’d suggest trying a few translators typically just to make sure you’re not getting a bad translation.

Now that make sense why they rather use 3 radar on Su-57 than use the thing that move IRBIS around.

Its that true? or its just a number going around. I know that THAT its number that people like RupprechtDeino/Minion. Talk about. Also even Here in this Forum that Number its used on J-15T. When that variant its suppose to be heavier than the Base J-15. Reinforce structure and landing gear because CATOBAR. And even Its Suppose to have RAM. So what its the True weight of J-15T?.

Do Chinese people have something with that Number? 17500kg. I have now see that number use on J-20 and J-35… Seriously that don’t make sense.

well, it’s the number from cctv which is about as official as you can get. and it is for j-15 not the b or t versions

I found 300kg for the Khibiny aka L-175, but this is the version for Su-34. Su-35S uses L-265 Khibiny-M and there is no data for this version.

@Dzhkグ let em cook, su30 thrust buff huh?
