Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

Damn we going for part 3 and the Su35 has yet to be properly discussed here on release.

I mean at this point Su-35 isn’t going to be exciting.

SM2 is basically 35 with minor difference right now.

It will still be discussed for sure, probably for new armament if I had to guess.

But yeah differences are slim compared to the sm2.

I mean technically speaking both planes should be able to use same A2A missiles if I’m not mistaken.

I prefer both jets recieve same capabilities in terms of A2A department.

Even though the R77M was only seen on the Su35, much like the double rack, I’m sure the Su30 will have access to that as well.

Most likely, plus I like SM2 more due its twin seater canard design so 35 can cry at the corner if SM2 recieves 77M as well.

Egypt never even got the su-35, the Egyptian su-35s were stuck in Russia.

Unless Egypt for some reason took their rafales to Russia I don’t see how they could even test the suite against su-35.

Unlike the Egyptian rafale, I’ve heard of the j10c’s from golden helmet squadron in China actually be able to render the su-35 useless in simulated exercises, so I’m not gonna expect much from su-35 suite.

It is possible that they tested one of Su35 against their Rafale provided by Russia before buying for test purposes.

I mean at the end of the day no matter how powerful it is PESA radar is still limitied by core design against AESA.

Yup.

Kinda funny how the iff and ECM equipment for su-35 in its wings are aesa but not the actual radar itself

Most likely lacking of funding.

Soviets/Russians had very good projects/designs but most of them either cut completely or partially due to financial issues.

thats not completly empty tho

thats probably with the pilots and oil and all that suff as well

Yeah, it’s probably everything other than ammunition and fuel loaded in.

Which is probably why it’s operational empty weight and not true empty weight

the one thing PESAs have in EW is raw power output

why use smart EW techniques, if more power does the job
i mean already seemed to work well on the Mig-25

something something if brute force isnt the awnser to your problem, you simply didnt use enough

Technology has been evolved quite a lot since 25 came out.

Brute force isn’t going to magically solve your problems against superior designs by that simple.

Using PESA at peak power will come its own problems so its not that simple.

It might work at the end of the day tho so who knows.

well then you didnt use enough brute force yet

a black and white drawing of a troll face with a smirk on it .

Huh, I guess its time to put MiG-31 against those AESA radars/ EW suites to the test.

Considering that Chinese Su-35 have export version of Irbis, as well as countries generally boasting about their own tech, I am skeptical about them making Su-35 “useless”. Again, most likely EW was proven effective in some consitions, and it was blown to the “Irbis is ass” proportions for media sake

We pray for AESA on flanker one day 🙏

That’s probably fair, but considering that su-35 couldn’t win a single completion from 2019-2022 against J-16 or J-10c it’s not looking good.

And yeah it was from pilot interview on CCTV which some consider straight up propaganda.

Ey tho, at least in war thunder su-35 is gonna smash the Chinese planes

you mean sales competition or chinese excercises?

Massive China copium incoming.
