Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

In essence it is a mishmash.

yes

If they removed the Dual pylons, it could probably be an SM1, but like…

wth gaijin

HMD you say, yaya ya, in Su27 target about 4km away i can even smell his engine fuel but for some reason no lock for r-27er launch had to cycle all the way to get ET (extra terrestrial) only then was I able to launch and get him.

Guys SM3 like the SM are stop gap programs designed to get funding, the SU30 SM2 and the Su-35, Mig35 and Mig29M are substantial upgrades over the Su-27 and Mig 29 airframes. Once they get introduced we should see substantial improvement in flight performance in air rb.

If u can’t with HMD, you also have HMS IR so you can lock with the hms then quckly switch to the hmd.
That’s what i typically do when one of your scenarios happen

what the hell gamers why doesn’t the su27 at 13.0 get 2 R27ER stock? Where is my russian bias? This was a rough stock grind.

looks like this was already reported 2 years ago on the mig 29 smt… they just havent done anything after accepting it

Ahh yes piano mode, from tws radar to Ir mode then HMD Ir then back to TWS radar mode, then again regular hmd mode hmmm. Meanwhile rafale and grippen click click mode hmmm.

no, you lock them with hms ir, then switch to regualr hmd and the job is done

Ok but how do you start off when flying in TWS mode or SRC PD? Or do you go straight into Ir mode. If you want to get hms ir you need to switch to ir mode first then select hms ir.

image of sm3, notice the extra pylon
You can tell it’s an su-27sm3 due to the 2 antennas, as seen on this photo

WHy would u start with TWS? Just use HMS. It’s not like u can FnF or do 30km BVR anyway, just stick to WVR or use ER’s great kinematics to target enemies within 20km.

Thanks for the tip, I always wanted to do BVR but it is not really working. The problem is within 20km you seldom get a frag, it is within 10km that I use the ers.

15km or so u can try the ET, especially on F15s flying up high, they have no MAWS, ERs work as well but just be careful cause u need to guide it the whole way. If u are in the position or u are in downtier u can do it. My friend has also experimented the prop strat of side climbing which works fine as well.

I just got about 10km ET frag in IR mode hms it works, but as you stated the issue is guiding it all the way takes way to long. Having all these modes available is fantastic but requires way too much input in comparison to F-18s, 16s , Rafaels and Euros.

Just to add to this point I used TWS HDN mode for head on engagement 1 frag, then switched to HMD regular 2nd frag, Ir mode got me 3rd (E.T) felt super confident, but F-18c came from behind with an Aim120b and you know how that ended.

Did you just turn slightly and it missed thats been my experience of 120s recently.

As for Typhoons IRST yes it locks nicely…Just dont have any way to leverage it apart from a work around to the terrible radar…Lock in IRST/ Switch to Radar fire 120 and switch back.

I am not a big Aim 120 expert but what I have noticed and that goes for all radar guided missiles is that beyond 12km opposing fighters can just notch pop flares and re engage and your missile has lost track.

I usually wait and fly low climb fast and fire missiles at around the 8km distance then hit the deck while dispensing chaff. In addition, when engaging fighters first time I usually try and maintain speeds of mach1 to Mach 1.1 if possible and fire missile at around those velocities.

Is the HUD the same of the Su-35?

Is this an SM or SM2?
