Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

True, R-27s also going trough modernisation program since 2019, which apparently upgrades guidance, target locking and engine upgrades.

yea i even saw a vid of r27r/er lofting

R-27T seeker with DL and LOAL soon maybe?

Not only that, in one of the videos Su-30SM launched 2 R-27Rs simultaneously

In one of the media articles i only saw vague “locking algorithm iprovements, including automatic mode that allows pilot to give more attention to actual piloting” but i dunno if it is about 27R or 27T

Do you not want the camo for it?
I have ignored the air after the sweet Aus Boxer :)

I’m not home for the event so I have to get my wallet out

I think I’ll look for a good user made camo on wt live, I don’t really enjoy the tricolor scheme they chose for it :/

So, do this? Gotcha

Yes lmao

Can someone write a bug report for me? Just noticed that the Su-33’s engines start overheating in a test flight whenever using the maneuver mode at low speeds.

same for the su30sm

For me the SM only heats up over 600kmph, which is expected due to the emergency power- and it only gets up to ~815*C so it isn’t actually over heating the engine.

But for the Su-33, the engines overheat at low speeds and high AOA.

Is there any way to prove that this little nob on the top of the SM2 is the same part as the RWR antenna on the wings? Having one less RWR blindspot could be already an improvement, but can’t be reported without proper sources.

@kizvy any idea on this?

the one on the wing is this knob most likely, see how it’s slightly longer than the other pic

as for the one on the top, the only one I can see it being is this one, which is slightly stubbier and fatter. Though it’s impossible to actually “prove it”, this is all speculation just from looking at it

Tbh, I don’t think that it is RWR. The Su-35 did not acquire such a sensor, although it seems to me that it would have been installed there first.

agreed, I’ve always been thinking it is a sort of datalink antenna or something of that sort, not rwr. Especially since its only on the top and not the bottom

Ah I see, well thanks for these sources though.

yeah. su-35 has both of these antennas, which is why it has much expanded frequency coverage compared to first l-150. Unsure about su-30sm2
