Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

because it is an IR missile

the r27et dosent have loal
and the r27er also only does it in a hacky way

the only reason why you would have to use the radar or irst irl to launch it is so that you can use the full range of the missile

bc i doubt that you can make out a target at 30km with your eyes

an IRST cant IFF either

image

max launch range is 52.5 km according to su27sk manual for r27et.

feels so wrong playing su-30 on blueside for sim lol

Well, one day there will be MKI as well, in one shape or another. Or MKA, seems like a pretty easy copy-paste vehicle to add

You know what forget the JAS39E, SU30SM2 here i come.

Jokes aside SU-27 still slaps hard.

Slaps the fusalage: This Bad boy can get you kills from 50km with ez.

I’ve been constantly getting kills from 40-50km’s in last two days with ER’s.

God I love slapping Iranian Tomcats from 50km’s especially when they got so cocky and fly straight after spamming those fakours.

For me its the su27sm, r77 has been good for 50km bvr. Its just that sometimes the uptiers is just pure pain

Personally i prefer ER over regular R-77, sometimes over 77-1 as well.

Having such a big missile with insane speed, range and quite good agility alongside with hard lock gives you insane BVR capabilities, especially at 12.7-13.7.

The Iranian F-14 has an RWR from the 50s
It is terrible it also lacks a single all aspect missile with an Aim9P…yes a 9.7 air to air missile as it’s IR option.

But it has Fakours and they were good once so now it faces Su-27/33/30 and F/A 18s and is absolute food

They are constantly getting kills thanks to those fakours and incompetent players, not to mention for some reason fakours only gives you warning around 8-10km instead of 16 which gives you much less time to notch if you’re at high altitude.

Not to mention it shouldn’t be able to use R27R in the first place.

Anyway I personally hate Iranian Tomcat users so I especially hunt them if they are on the other side.

so far the general opinion on the N-035 is…
that its actual garbage at maintaining both tws and tts.
any of you found a workaround yet? and is someone working on a report?

Fakours are easy to notch and the SU and F/A-18s have excellent RWRs.

The jet is functionally dead at it’s current BR

Su-27 has trash RWR compare to F-18’s.

Its better than F-14A tho.

Also problem isn’t the notching its the reaction time when fakours appears on your RWR screen, due to some interesting choices from Gaijin they don’t give you radar warning until they are in 8-10km range which is a very narrow window if you’re at high altitude with heavy fighter (like Su-27-30).

I feel they are weaker now and thats because it’s not other F-14s, MiG 23 and the odd 29 and F-16

It’s massively more agile and advanced airframes.

I dont think an F-14 wins in BVR against a Su-27/33/30

Tomcat still holds the Fox-3 advantage over Su-27/33 and range advantage over premium Su-30’s with fakours.

Now sure ER’s are great but if Tomcat player is little bit smart he can easily go cold while forcing you to notch with those Fakours.

Some of the smart Tomcat players did this to me, eventually they died to my second ER tho due experience differences.

But in order to kill them from 40-50km range you need to get into high altitude and achieve high speed before launching those ER’s which can put you in disadvantage position sometimes.

You have more missiles a superior FM and better missiles better Radar and an HMS.

You have to notch 4 Aim54/Fakours and then it’s game over ET and ER and if they survive that you have 4 R-73

There just isnt really a world were an F-14A/B or IR should beat a 13.0 Su-27/33

First of all Radar is trash on Su-27.

Second of all despite having superior missiles Iranian Tomcat sits at same br as Su-27-33 due to how effective Fakours are.

They have insane speed, range and quite big warhead which can cause splash damage even if you notch or multipath it.

In my book Su-27 is the king of 13.0 but Iranian Tomcat isn’t as bad as most people claim, its one of the few jet that has Fox-3’s at 13.0.

Also F-14B can beat Su-27 in dogfight and BVR thanks to better flight performance and better electronics.

Su-27 can’t beat F-14B in dogfight unless its on low fuel with R-73’s, otherwise 14B just easily outrates and kills Su-27.

Fakours were strong but not to players who know how to notch a 120 or an ARHM. Which the majority at that BR kind of do. Yes you can grab the sleeping player but you can do the same at top tier with a 40km 120 shot.

It is not indicative of a good missile. Now the F-14IR had a troubled start it was facing jets that were beneath it with a missile that was hard to defeat. A high flying F-4 was never going to be able to notch it while an F/A-18 and Su-27 can easily get into that notch angle removing the threat posed by that missile.

I refute that an F-14B beats a Su-27 in BVR for the reason well the Su-27 has the R-27ER and if a MiG 29 with the R-27ER was dominating F-14s, Tornados and Phantoms then the Su-27 is a massive upgrade over the 29.

The F-14B has 9Ls which are all aspect and a 7M which brings more to the level of competitors (I don’t have the F-14B)

Su-33 is excellent though the amount of missiles the flight performance I mush prefer it to my IR F-14
