Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

Most of them are insisting that su-30sm2 has irbis/al-41 even though ralin (tech mod) is also saying that it doesn’t have their 2 things

It’s funny.
There are even ppl who believe thta Su-30MKI&Su-30SM are really different in terms of flight perfomance irl(speed)

I think the only place the 35 will outperform the 30sm2 is In rate performance as the 30sm2 has an empty weight of 17700 aprox. And the 35 is 19000 aprox. according to quick searches of both but the 30 definitely has more drag with the canards

What about it needs work?

Oh sorry, I mistakenly thought the AL41F1S had 3D TVC

If only gaijin could’ve just kept N011M and given it the longer range that SM2’s ACTUALLY have…

I personally would enjoy 30SM2 more if it was like how it is irl… 31FP/N011M-R, but whatever…

Oke thx, so we will have the same weight as SM. AL-41 is about 100kg heavier according to rossobronexepo

where is my blue afterburner change log

Correct, some are not just overperforming, but largely entirely fictional.

For one, no Soviet/post-soviet aircraft with a mirror scan radar is capable operating with the helmet sight.

The radars are not even capable of scanning full azimuth and must be broken up into 3 viewing zones that are operated exclusively by the pilot with 3 dial analog switch. These viewing zones are modelled in-game but developers modelled the radar to seamlessly track into other viewing zones and will even jump the entire zones to immediately acquire a track. Not possible with a twisted Cassegraine set up.

They are not capable of beamforming or dynamic beam agility as they have no ability to phase shift & can split the aperture into multiple sub‑beams like the planar arrays of the MiG-29SMT & F-16 for example.

Additionally, as we know the IRST is a passive systems, they have zero ability to determine range without the laser designator which per Su-27 manual is 6km and can only be operated 5 min per flight. Of course, this is not modelled whatsoever as this will highlight how fictional the models are overall. Per manual only range can be determined by a tracked target if the laser is used. It has zero ability to even estimate target heading over time due to the simplicity of the system & limitation of the Ts100 series.

It is especially impossible for the IRST whether captured by the system or helmet able to measure velocity of a tracked target because the IRST has zero ability to utilize the doppler effect (frequency shifts of radio waves) to measure velocity relative to the aircraft. It must use the radar. Newer IRST systems can only make estimates that are generated over time as these are still passive systems that observe not measure directly.

The IRST/HMS can immediately generate an entire track file with velocity magically in-game while the laser designator, the only thing that the IRST can measure in reality (range) is not even modelled.

Really? Mig-29b radar operations manual has radar hms

Bro this isn’t DCS 😭 this is completely irrelevant for WT

Never heard of the MiG-29B really does it have a Rubin or Topaz radar? N019 variant?

You bring up a good point.

The Su-27 and Mig-29 are my all time favorite aircraft. I want a real MiG-29 flight model. It is heavily nerfed because Gaijin wants to make them all like US jets & modelled the entire soviet tech tree at top tier after it in it’s radar & entire reliance on R-27ER & radar HMD when it never needed to.

We need to be honest with ourselves how fictionally modelled some aspects are because Gaijin is obsessed with making every Russian aircraft just like the Americans when they are nothing like them. They will not touch flight models or even give the MiG-29 its aoa, thrust, aerodynamic integral design (very high lift in a turn) or even its hallmark weaponry because of these over buffed aspects that are entirely fictional. They actually given up on the model because its such a mess.

Do not want to get off topic, but anyway that is my two cents.

N019, slightly more downgraded

tbh with ya, if we get a good FM on the mig29 with not heavy bullshit, it will be a monster.

I have this & will check it out, never had chance. You have a page?

I know & I know that is exactly why Gaijin threw up their hands with it. Because it will require they shift BRs around big time. However, I have a resolution that I will add in the forum that does increase the BRs but brings in the 9.12 initial production they actually modelled all MiG-29s after.

i am talking about 9.41, yesterday i did 1802kmh at 6k m with 5 kills in bvr, not to forget the 50km r27er kills. with the smt, yeah smt, big fat ugly mig29.
