Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

thats just hearsay but i heard that the EW pods have RWR antennas in them, improving RWR coverage when equipped

but thats not confirmed

You forgrot radar that requires 3-5 business days to do a full sweep. As well as artificial buffs to FM that came a bit later as well as SPAMRAAM nerfs

Good first few pages for learning about su30sm with general characteristics. Though after like 10 pages gets too complicated

At least they should provide “some” RWR functionality

true with the shift from long range spamraam meta with players actually learning how to defeat these missiles kinetically and with notching and just making the average engagement distance getting much shorter now favoring the MICA and R-77/-1 much more now

They don’t have RWR antenna in them as far as I’ve heard, the thought process is that it can pick up the general direction radar emissions are coming from, but it’s nothing accurate…

i have a similar one talking about the TVC

It was a really bad time, to say the least. I used to multipath, something I don’t like, having to fly centimeters off the ground, but it was the best way to survive. It’s a shame I deleted several clips I had. We flew low and it just rained AIM-120s on our heads. That’s why I don’t feel sorry for American players nowadays complaining that the AIM-120 isn’t what it used to be… I just find it funny that they’re annoyed that their glory days are over.

Yeah teaser will actually be a surprise this time

I was there, Gandalf, it was 2000 years ago…
I hit top tier right when Su-27S was released, so i was a part of every single change after that.

It has L-150-30-SM, you can see it on the right vert stab, the white antenna iirc.

In Balta’s post you can see the leading edge or whatever wing part that is, has a white node on it, which is the usual placement for front facing L-150 nodes.

Around mid-2024 until the end of 2024, before the arrival of the Eurocanards, the US completely dominated. If you had an F-15C, all you had to do was climb high and fast, drop all your AIM-120s on the other team flying low, and you’d have 3 or 4 guaranteed kills. I have some clips of my Su-27SM with 7 AIM-120s falling on me; fly a meter higher and you were dead. I think US players got too spoiled; they always had good weapons ahead of all nations, and when that changed, they quickly got annoyed because flying in the stratosphere and firing thousands of AIM-120s nowadays makes it difficult to get more than 1 kill.

Yeah, i know how L-150 antennas look. That’s why i was surprised by noticing SPO-15 covers on nacelles. It seems that this is Su-27UB photo, not Su-30SM

Let’s see what awaits us. (Im looking forward to it)

i mean, there are still F-15E players that just headbutt R-77s with their face, so nothing changed too much. I recently had a moment with F-15E sending an AMRAAM at me from 5km, missing and then literally zooming past me in a straight line and eating R-73 in the engine.

R-27ET trolling at almost BVR ranges is also one of my favorite tactics

Exactly, man, sometimes I fire an R77-1 at 30km, maybe 25, and a few F15Es, and most of the time I end up getting a free kill while he wastes time trying to spam like we’re in 2024.
