Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

I would say the bars is good for top tier and has a good gap performance wise compared to other top tier radars

It’s more down to the fact the rafales radar leapfrogs ahead so much to the bars leaving a massive gap in performance compared to the gap with the bars and other radars

I wouldn’t say there’s a massive gap between bars and rafale radar, especially with manual radar slewing

Best way to describe it imo is the BARS is better than all Mech scan radars in-game, and worse than all ESA’s in-game.

RBE2-AA is effectively the equivalent of having 4 BARS running at the same time, so there is a huge gap yeah…

is bars worse than the esa on the kfir c10? unsure what scan angles that plane gets

Pretty sure it is, though I havent added lower tier radars to the spreadsheet

Edit: Yes, it has much better scan volume, similar/superior scan rate and v.scan rate

If your only using the radar to detect people and flying mostly near the ground sure Bars its “fine”. But for me its the worst radar. I started to use Manual control because how bad this thing was. And not even that help. The radar its just bad. Some problem are not specific of Bars. But because i still use 27ER. Its more notorious for me.

Like if i try to send a “silent” 27ER. Trying to lock the same target its stupidly hard and most often you just will waste the missile because its almost imposible to re-lock the same target. Even when gaijin has try to solve this problem.

why use 27er? r-77-1 is best overall fox 3 in game.
even then, i’ve had plenty of success using “silent” 27er on normal su-27s, i can’t imagine how having a better radar in every way other than vertical coverage is worse.

because playing the most optimal isnt always the most fun

Because its funny when you catch people off-guard with a 60km+ launch.

can confirm that

i’ve done 50km with the normal su-27s… 60km i cant image because su30sm is so slow compared to normal su27s so it has no energy. at beginning of match, i usually climb to 11k, then fire r27er, do defensive circle while going to 5k alt, then relock

I have done it multiple time. Usually the missile catch the people trying to launch their missile before the notch. I could have done a lot more time. But like 90% of the time the radar refuse to lock the target i have a soft lock.

do you use hdn or normal tws?

Usually both. With HDN i feel like it detected people faster.

Turns out that if you turn off your autoflares and don’t counter the incoming missile, you get hit by it, crazy

Makes zero sense why a Typhoon would turn off auto flares and chaff.

Typhoon has plenty of countermeasures.
Especially if it worked the way it should IRL.

I find the R-27ER to be a bit more reliable at those 40km+ launches compared to the R-77-1, the R-77-1 loses its speed much more aggressively when maneuvering compared to the R-27ER

Also with the recent hard limit for missile speeds removed it can now reach Mach 5. So I’d imagine it probably got even stronger this update, same with the fakour as well

It makes very much sense to turn them off

Because if I flare a missile myself iam not going to waste 60 CMs on it

are you outdated?
