Until we get su-35s which can guide the r27er while notching, it’s not going to be meta. Any fox 3 carrier can launch a fox 3 and go cold or notch.
I mean I get killed by it regularly, mainly when chased by multiple missiles, the fact that there is one that doesn’t eat chaff and notch throws me off a bit.

no matter how good the r27er is ingame, it doesnt have infinte energy
and no the su35 wouldnt trade with the other guy bc it is in a notch and able to defend against the incomming missile while keeping the lock
My opinion about the 27ER is that it’s better suited as a missile that you swap to if you get into one of those matches where a few stragglers on each team survive to resupply. The opening 16v16 furball has just way too many missiles around to try to safely guide a fox1 most of the time, but you’re more likely to find a situation where you can safely guide a fox1 when there are only ~2-3 survivors left on each team. The 27ER is also probably the safest missile to use when an enemy has merged with a teammate since you can just manually kill the lock if you see the missile start tracking the friendly, and you might even be able to swap it off of the friendly and back onto the enemy.
Only thing I hate about ARH. I thought they implemented the speed gate thing, but apparently still doesn’t work.
In my experience 27ERs are very good against ppl who don’t have a clue where you are at, when they pick you on their radar it’s usually too late
When i get into more complicated situations with dozens of planes fighting at the same time i always pop a bit of flares just in case, ETs are annoying when launched rear aspect like r73s but at other angles it’s easy to avoid
Yes, they’re very good at that. I just in general recommend usage of the ET’s instead because “sucker punching people” is something where they have overlap and the ET is overall easier to use and safer for the shooter due to it’s fire and forget capability. There are a lot of threats flying around in 16v16 air RB, and I am a strong advocate that fire and forget capability is one of the most powerful capabilities that a weapon can have in this environment.
MiganFox has some good videos on youtube where he uses the 27ER to good effect. For example where he shoots an R-77 and an 27ER at the same target while the opponent shoots a spamraam at him. Both parties notch their respective fox-3s and the fox-1 loses its lock during the notching maneuver. However when both parties turn back to re-engage, the opponent launches a fresh fox-3 while the 27ER hasn’t quite overshot yet and the restablished lock allowed Migan to get the kill since the opponent no longer had enough separation from the ER to re-notch it. That shows that there is some potential there, but a lot of pressure is placed on the pilot to walk that razor’s edge between defending and reacqustion of the target.
Another very important distinction is that many of Migan’s clips that showcase the 27ER are from with the 4v4 tournament format. In this situation there there are only 4 potential opponents that can threaten him, and he is working in close concert with three trusted teammates that are engaging and distracting the opponents to provide migan enough breathing room to guide his 27ERs. That is very different than being in a 16v16 cluster%(*#&( alongside a bunch of blue enemies.
If you can manage to stay on the fringe of the battle and pickoff isolated opponents, then maybe you might be able to get more usage out of the ER at the start of an air RB game. But I don’t think that I can recommend first spawning with the 27ER to the average player. Better to keep it simple and toss out a mix of 77-1s and the 27ET. You can consider resupplying with some 27ERs if the match lasts long enough for everyone to RTB, and then you can try to leverage the ER’s advantages in the significantly less hectic post-resupply phase of the match where there are only a small handful of players left on the field.
Issue is I can’t risk to pop flares, I only have 24 or 16 for sake of low CM count overall and I really would love to stay up high. ETs against no MAWS is also annoying, even against MAWS when u are locked by a radar I tend to just go into a notch without over thinking, but then a ET pops up out of the blue.

Nope, J11/J10. I use a load of chaff to stay up high. So I bring 56/16 or 72/24 chaff to flares.
same here lol, i use 70/28 with the su27sm/s30sm to keep flying at 4000/5000m, is not that bad but not great either, i wish the flankers had at least 120 cms D:
also, a quick tip that i also gave to @ILuvAnneHathaway is to reduce your rwr sensitivity to 50%, this will help you to not waste chaff because it will give you more accurate warnings for fox 3s/1s and won’t pick up fox3s that aren’t meant for you.

Mine is already at 50%, not chaff wasted, just that I need that much, like voluntarily to stay high, and that doesn’t leave me with enough to do late game.
