Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

I’m sure the J11B is a really good aircraft, they share some key features afterall.

Hopefully one day I’ll try with my hands

As far as i know its the lightest Flanker and does have better engines than Su27SM for high speed, while loosing access to R27ET and R73’s hurts the combination of flight performance, MAW, radar and PL-12 makes it better in my book.

Yep, if it had mixed loadout options like the mkk it would be quite scary

Its quite weird considering PLAAF still uses R27 on these days, its like Gaijin purposely didnt give R27’s and R73’s to the J11B.

pretty sure it cant use them IRL anyway, since they fully transitioned to Chinese avionics when they made it

unlike the J-11/11A that still use russian stuff

Actual proof that multipathing is not the best solution

Ukrainian air force caught multipathing in the big 26

its still heavier than the base su-27s, but it has better thrust to weight due to the engines.
j11b is lighter than su27sm tho

I’m not expert on this so I can’t say anything but judging recent footages that shows Chinese flankers can use R27 I think they are still capable of firing Russian munitions.

that’s for the russian models of chinese flankers.
I havent seen indigenous chinese flankers use russian weapons

Look at the GoPro mount tho, thing resisted to a 60kg warhead, a wing tearing off and a smash in the ground…

Oh that explains then.

Still surprised china using such an old flanker models considering they are producing good amount of domestic flankers with domestic avionics and other stuffs.

Guess if it works keep using it.

they modernized them, but they still use russian weapons. Like, the j-11a mlu program for example gave the base j-11 (literally just an su-27sk) access to r-77. It also got a newer cockpit, MAWS and some j-11a mlus got a newer, modern rwr (not all though).
Basically what the j-11a is ingame, it’s acutally a j-11a mlu

i saw articles talking about how they had or are retiring their J-11 with russian origin and mostly only use them now for ground crew training

Man wish they kept at least R-73 for CQC until PL-10 came out.

Now imagine J11B with R-73’s+Pl-12, basically Su-30MKK on steroids.
